关于我们
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell is "to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." Our vision is to end the cycle of generational poverty in Greater Lowell. Through afterschool and summer programming, the Boys & Girls Club provides engaging programs, caring role models and healthy meals to 1,500+ young people between the ages of 8 - 18. Our comprehensive programs have been shown to increase academic success, improve healthy lifestyles and reduce risky behaviors. In order to reduce the barrier to entry and ensure that Club programs are available to all youth in Lowell, membership is just $30 annually ($5 for teens) and includes all programming and services. It is through community support via individuals, businesses, partner organizations and government entities that the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell is able to operate. We invite you to learn more about the challenges our youth are overcoming, and how you can help end generational poverty in Lowell as a supporter, volunteer and/or advocate for the young people in the Greater Lowell Community.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell serves the youth of our community in so many ways, and UMass Lowell is a proud partner. That’s why we’re so excited for the club’s Believe and Become campaign, which will help it to serve significantly more teens in middle and high school with its transformative programs. ? I was so happy to be included among community leaders who met with Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll recently to talk about the club’s enormous impact and its vision for the future.

Thank you to the Lowell Sun for sharing the story of our wonderful partnership with Greater Lowell Technical High School. The Club has been lacking a good space for the entire Club to gather during performances, and this stage built in our new Community Center & Cafe is the perfect place to do so. Thank you to all the students who were part of building the stage! https://lnkd.in/etjTryxG

We are exceptionally lucky to have JuanCarlos Rivera on our team at the Boys & Girls Club. JuanCarlos is a leader who advocates for all young people, ensuring that they are heard, respected and their needs are met first and foremost. He is doing great things throughout the city of Lowell, including serving on the Board of Directors at UTEC. #Lowellleadership #nonprofitleadership #youthadvocate
Over the next few months, we're introducing you to UTEC's Board of Directors! Kicking it off is the one and only JuanCarlos Rivera ???? JuanCarlos was one of the founding members of UTEC. As a Streetworker through the City of Lowell, he advocated fiercely for UTEC's establishment in the late 1990s. He now serves as the Vice President and DEI Committee Chair on our board. “I'm so proud to be a part of this legacy and look forward to seeing what is still to come,” said JuanCarlos, who is currently the Deputy Executive Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell. He said he values the positive relationships that are built between staff and young adults and “the potential in all of our young adults.” Fun facts: JuanCarlos loves to go Latin dancing, white water rafting, and to travel ???? #maddlove #boardofdirectors #legacy #utec25 #lowell

The Search Institute's Social Capital Framework aligns closely with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell's approach to ending generational poverty. By providing a foundation of support, high expectations, community connections and opportunities to explore interests, the Club is able to help members grow into confident adults with vibrant skills and connections to support their success. Read this article from the Search Institute to learn more about how to build a framework of Social Capital for youth. #greatfuturesLowell #youthandcommunity #endinggenerationalpoverty
Schools and organizations that serve young people are critical environments for supporting their healthy growth and development, and by having a framework to promote #SocialCapital, they can feel safe and be their authentic selves within that space. #DevelopmentalRelationships https://hubs.la/Q02vym010

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell has been very intentional in building a Board of Directors that more closely represents the families served by the Club's services and programs. While there is work to do, we are glad to be making strides in the right direction, and are seeing benefits everyday of working with an inclusive and representative Board. We appreciate this article that shares more about why nonprofits should prioritize diversifying their Boards. #boardofdirectors #nonprofits #representationmatters
Ensuring nonprofit boards reflect the communities they serve isn't just a goal—it's a necessity for real impact. Using data across the nonprofit sector—including one of our own studies—Nonprofit Quarterly assess the progress of nonprofit board diversity:
