According to new data from the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR), 96,236 homes were built last year, reflecting a 16.2% increase compared to 2023. With their cost-effectiveness and efficiency, manufactured homes are set to play an increasingly vital role in the housing market!

To address the severe shortage of housing, we should prioritize solutions that deliver results quickly and effectively. The faster we can bring new units to market, the sooner individuals and families can find the stability and security they desperately need.

To expedite the rebuilding of homes destroyed in the recent fires, the Los Angeles mayor has signed an executive order allowing residents to construct and live in tiny homes, modular homes, and similar housing structures while their homes are being rebuilt. This will allow residents to ensure they have a roof over their heads during this challenging time due to how much easier and less expensive it is to build these housing structures. Tiny homes, modular homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and similar housing alternatives can quickly increase the housing supply, providing people with less expensive options for housing. During his confirmation hearing, Scott Turner, the nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), highlighted the urgent need to boost the supply of affordable housing and cut through regulatory barriers. As Turner put it, "We need millions of homes." Whether it's pre-manufactured housing or zoning policies that promote the use of ADUs, the tools to address this crisis are within reach. The key now is to bridge federal and state leadership with local action to create real change!
