Our east coast team is working on installing PFAS treatment facility to remove PFAS and other contaminants from the community's drinking water. So far, they've constructed a 400,000-gallon backwash tank & 130,000-gallon clearwell, installed 16 Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) vessels, and completed the CMU building structure. This project in Lafayette will provide water and wastewater services to the southeast of the City limits as part of the City's Long-Term Control Plan. This will consist of a Lift Station, Sanitary System, and Water system which will provide room for future expansion. Bowen had the opportunity to spend some time with a great Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Purdue class today. We got to share our experience of using technology to solve every day issues in construction. Then had a great site tour led by Paul Creasey where students got to witness the progress of a deep excavation for a new lift station. It's always encouraging to see a group of students engaged and excited to learn outside of the classroom. The future of construction is bright!

Today marks the start of this year's Women in Construction Week! We want to recognize & celebrate the outstanding contributions of women in the construction industry who are breaking barriers and driving progress. We asked one of our Project Engineers, Micaela, about being a woman in the construction industry, & this is her response: 1. What contribution are you most proud of that you've made towards a project's success? What impact did your work have on the project's outcome? "The contribution to its success that I have been most proud of has been managing concrete. My organization from scheduling, tracking, and collaborating with crews and subs have resulted in successful concrete placements. It has been a chance for me to learn and problem solve a lot through my time at Bowen so far." 2. What was it, whether it be someone or something, that impacted you to choose construction as your career path? "I have always been a hands-on person, working in the construction industry has been a great fit for me. " 3. What advice would you give to young women who are considering a career in construction? What are the most rewarding aspects of this field for you? "It is easier said than done, but be confident and don't be afraid to ask questions. It could be a question someone else is thinking or a question that hasn't been considered, and it could end up being the key to success for your team.
