One of the best parts about my employment is the ability to be civically engaged during work hours. I get to interact with various nonprofit organizations and people who truly make the world a better place by changing everyday lives. I want to highlight one of the organizations I recently volunteered with and that’s David’s Refuge. This organization supports parents and guardians of children with special needs and other life threatening medical conditions in various ways. A part of David’s Refuge goal is for families to commit to self care and for families to prioritize their relationships with one another as the uncontrollable stresses of caring for a disabled child happens. David’s refuge does this in various ways such as, providing retreats for families, organizing fun engaging events, and many other mental and physical wellness initiatives. Organizations such as these are the bread and butter of community, and serve as an invisible life line to many families. Today marks the end of a wonderful Summer Associate internship with Bousquet Holstein PLLC. I had incredible learning opportunities and mentors here.
