Northwest Community Laboratories, a Multicare-affiliated reference laboratory previously located within the Tacoma General Hospital, needed a new space to expand its testing capabilities and services to a greater part of the Northwest region. With a projected three-fold growth in incoming samples, the expansion involved converting many manual testing processes to fully automated ones, requiring space planning around large, cutting-edge equipment. The Patty & George Hoag Cancer Center renovation, which we recently shared was awarded a Citation Award for Healthcare Interiors by AIA Orange County, delivers a new experience for patients undergoing cancer treatment in Newport Beach and the surrounding areas. The design team worked closely with staff and user teams to develop an ideal operational flow for the care team and the patient journey, resulting in a cancer center with a deep focus on providing a truly patient-centered approach. Nothing but smiles for the Sun Life Health Medical Campus! Jon Tucker, James Fennell, Micaela Lindemann, Niharika Kuruvada, and Jenna Cappotto, IIDA, LEED GA represented BA at the groundbreaking for this exciting project, designed out of our Phoenix office. This new community health center will encompass over 100,000 s.f. of clinical services for the Casa Grande area including primary care, women's services, behavioral health, imaging, and a teaching pharmacy. The campus will also include an outdoor courtyard to host community events and farmer's markets.
