    The CEO of Botify showed me this chart. It shows AI bots are crawling retail websites a lot more. Not just Google or Bing. These are AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity. What are retailers doing about it? Adrien Menard said it clearly: "Every piece of valuable content on your website needs to be accessible to the systems generating results." Here’s what they are seeing: - These bots may bring fewer clicks, but they’re higher intent. - Higher intent is due to the personalized AI recommendations - If your pages aren’t indexed in all the search engines & AI engines, you’re losing real sales.     OpenAI bot activity is ramping up across e-commerce sites. Our data shows that their bots have *tripled* interactions on top retail & e-commerce sites between January 1 and the end of February. It’s a trend we expect will increase: - ChatGPT has removed login requirements, meaning anyone can easily use it for search - It’s now possible to set ChatGPT as your browser’s default search engine OpenAI’s agentic search browser, Operator, will eventually send AI agents to your site on behalf of consumers As a brand, are you prepared to help these bots find what they need? We know how badly AI assistants want up-to-date content to provide to consumers — think things like real-time prices on your products, stock information, and more. It’s no surprise that we’re seeing greater activity from ChatGPT-User, the OpenAI bot used to find and share content with consumers and take actions on their behalf. When you see increased interactions from ChatGPT-User on your site, you should ask yourself a few questions: - What kind of fresh content is it trying to find? - How does that content align with my customers’ intent? - Are there technical blockers preventing it from accessing some content? Is it finding out-of-date content I wouldn’t want to share with consumers? There’s a wealth of opportunity in optimizing for AI search today: increased brand visibility wherever consumers are searching, up-to-date product information in AI search, reaching people across different services that leverage ChatGPT (like Apple Intelligence), and more.
