Big news from our Maternal Fetal Care Center. To better reflect its commitment to providing highly specialized, exceptional care and innovative solutions for pregnant patients and their families, the Maternal Fetal Care Center is now the Fetal Care and Surgery Center. ?? A new name coincides with a move to new, enhanced space at Boston Children’s that features: ?? Four specialty exam rooms equipped for ultrasound, exams, NSTs, and procedures —allowing patients to receive comprehensive care without moving rooms. ??? An adult-centric aesthetic featuring calming colors and artwork to create a soothing atmosphere. ????? An expanded waiting area that includes a patient nourishment station to make longer appointment days more pleasant. ?? Larger reading and clinical and administrative workrooms support collaboration and multidisciplinary care These enhancements aim to create a more comfortable and efficient experience for our patients, ensuring they receive the highest quality care in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Our heart muscle is studded with tiny, intricate dyads, structures that manage incoming electrical signals and calcium release to coordinate our heartbeats. Could gene therapy help maintain dyads’ structure and boost failing hearts? Research led by William Pu in our Heart Center suggests it can. ??

Imagine if a child at risk for dyslexia could be identified and get help in a fun game format — before the start of formal reading instruction. That’s the goal of EarlyBird Education, a set of game-based products for parents and teachers that grew out of Boston Children’s research and was incubated in our Innovation & Digital Health Accelerator. A team at Boston Children’s set out to change that, providing visual, evidence-based timelines for mastering a variety of developmental skills, modeling the widely used Denver Developmental Screening Test. ??
