关于我们
Boston Children's Hospital is a 404-bed comprehensive center for pediatric health care. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Boston Children's offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age. (Our services can begin interventions at 15 weeks gestation and in some situations we also treat adults.) We have approximately 25,000 inpatient admissions each year and our 200+ specialized clinical programs schedule 557,000 visits annually. Last year, the hospital performed more than 26,500 surgical procedures and 214,000 radiological examinations. Our team of physicians and nurses has been recognized by a number of independent organizations for overall excellence, and we're proud to share some notable examples with you here.

How do pain responses go from being protective — to avoid harm — to pain hypersensitivity, in which people experience debilitating pain from harmless stimuli such as a gentle touch? Clifford Woolf and colleagues in the F.M. Kirby Neurobiology Center at Boston Children's Hospital used calcium imaging to track signaling by key spinal projection neurons that are involved in pain perception. They document how signaling changes from that in normal conditions (in response to thermal and mechanical pain stimuli) to that in acute and chronic pain hypersensitivity conditions. The findings could lead to new therapeutic approaches for pain. Read the paper in Neuron. ??

Every parent wants to make their child’s birthday special — especially if this is their second consecutive birthday spent in the hospital and they’re currently on the national waitlist for a heart transplant. That’s why Lincoln rang in his fifth birthday yesterday with sirens, horns, and flashing lights! After Boston Fire Department heard how much he loves fire engines and firefighters, they sent seven fire vehicles to celebrate Lincoln and award him with an honorary firefighter certificate! We want to extend a huge thank you to the Boston Fire Department — as well as Lincoln's care team, Boston Children’s Child Life Services, and Benderson Family Heart Center — for making Lincoln’s birthday the most special one yet! ????
