Each year, the South Boston Citizens Association holds Evacuation Day activities in in March, a homage to the 1776 showdown when colonial troops ended the 'Siege of Boston' by pointing cannons atop Dorchester Heights at the British fleet in the Harbor. Councilor Ed Flynn is chairman of this year's activities. 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of this historic event. American poet Louise Bogan (1897-1970) was born in Maine, the daughter of an Irish-American mill worker with family roots in #Donegal & #Derry. The longtime poetry editor for The New Yorker magazine, Bogan became America's first female poet laureate Library of Congress in 1945. https://lnkd.in/evyc7NVt
