Shoutout to Seymour Foods! We appreciate their business and their dedication to sourcing local products for their customers.
See these gorgeous vegetables? They were all grown in Massachusetts and sold to us by Boston Food Hub, a non-profit food distributor (operated by the Boston Area Gleaners, Inc.). We then brought them to Feed RI (formerly We Share Hope), where they will be repacked and distributed to 40 LGBTQIA+ households in "Everything but the Turkey" Thanksgiving boxes. This initiative was organized by our neighbors at Small Format, a cooperatively-owned third space (known for both their delicious food & beverages AND for being an inclusive environment). The next time you're on our street, be sure to go get a drink and a snack from Small Format to thank them. And when you are able to do so, please consider giving to Feed RI or the Boston Area Gleaners so programs like these can continue.

Thrilled about this partnership with CommonWealth Kitchen, and of course, for delicious tomato products for local schools and hospitals!
CommonWealth Kitchen and Boston Food Hub are busy diverting over 50 TONS of surplus and B-grade tomatoes from landfills and compost and turning it into sauce for Springfield Public Schools (Massachusetts), Community Servings, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Sodexo and others- supporting our farm community, strengthening supply chains, building an equitable, resilient, values-aligned regional food economy! #equitablefood #sustainablefood

It's a pleasure working with customers like Seymour Foods who are dedicated to sourcing locally grown food for their businesses!
"Your produce is so much fresher than what's in the grocery store!" Yes, because I work directly with local farms as much as possible and when I do source from a distributor, it's Boston Food Hub! The highlight of my week is driving up to Acton to fill my truck with fresh strawberries from Pell Family Farm, broccoli from Bardwell Farm, cukes & zukes from Silverwood Organic Farm, and more. Actually, no, the highlight of my week is the look on a new customer's face when they taste fresh local produce for the first time or when they find something that isn't regularly available at the big box stores. ACTUALLY.... it's when those new customers become repeat customers! Thank you so much to Boston Food Hub + my many farms and vendors for enabling Chloe and me to bring fresh, local food to households and small businesses across Rhode Island.
