Yesterday's advisory from the US Surgeon General on the mental health and well-being of parents and caregivers could not be more timely. As families head back to school this month, the time is right for policy makers, employers, communities, and individuals to step up their role in understanding caregiving demands and stressors (which are often invisible) and supporting caregiver well-being. #caregiverwellbeing #mentalhealth #parentalleave #caregivingbenefits

Thanks for sharing our fatherhood study! For our latest research and resources, please visit www.bc.edu/cwf
Creating a workplace culture that prioritizes employee well-being, especially for working parents, is essential for companies aiming to attract and retain top talent. Supporting working parents in achieving work-life balance not only benefits individuals but also enhances overall productivity and job satisfaction. Companies can implement flexible work arrangements, such as remote work options or adjustable schedules, allowing parents to better manage their professional and family responsibilities. Additionally, offering comprehensive parental leave policies and providing on-site childcare facilities or subsidies can significantly reduce stress and financial burdens for working parents. Research has shown that companies embracing family-friendly policies experience numerous benefits, including increased employee retention and satisfaction. A study conducted by the Boston College Center for Work & Family found that organizations offering supportive work-family programs saw a 75% improvement in employee retention rates among working parents. Furthermore, these companies reported higher levels of employee engagement and productivity. This approach not only benefits individual employees but also contributes to the overall success of the organization. How has your organization supported working parents in achieving a better work-life balance, and what impact have you seen on employee satisfaction and productivity? 2024 Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award winners announced at WFRN Conference In a special moment marking the 25th Anniversary of the award, Rosabeth Moss Kanter attended the WFRN Conference in Montreal to offer a “Big Ideas” talk and to announce the winners of the award bearing her name. Due to extremely close scores, two winning articles were identified this year through a rigorous selection process including multiple rounds of review by academic researchers and corporate HR leaders. Professor Vanessa Conzon of Boston College was recognized for her article “The equality policy paradox: Gender differences in how managers implement gender equality–related policies” in Administrative Science Quarterly. She was greeted with a great round of applause from conference attendees as she received a certificate from Rosabeth Moss Kanter herself. The second article selected for the award is “Who’s remembering to buy the eggs? The meaning, measurement, and implications of invisible family load” published in the Journal of Business and Psychology. The authors are Julie Wayne of Wake Forest University; Maura Mills, Russell Matthews and Whitman, Marilyn of The University of Alabama; and Yi-Ren Wang of the Asia School of Business, Malaysia. The authors were unable to be present at the conference to receive the award. Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth of The Center For Families at Purdue University and Jennifer Sabatini Fraone of the Boston College Center for Work & Family presented the finalist articles at the conference on behalf of the two centers that administer the award.?
