????????, ??????????, ???????????? The BOKA Vanguard is already the largest semi-submersible heavy transport vessel in the world. But recently this groundbreaking vessel was made even bigger. With a length of 275 meters and an “original” width of 70 meters, a widening of 10 meters does not sound all that impressive. To put the dimensions of the unique transport vessel into perspective a bit: one outrigger is comparable to the dimensions of a three-story house. This feat of engineering makes it possible to transport future cargoes more than 75 meters wide. We wish the crew of the BOKA Vanguard a safe journey during future transports. ???????????????? ???? ?? ?????????????? ?????? ???? ???????? Our trailing suction hopper dredger Coastway recently started work on a new extensive dredging project in Sohar, Oman. And it is no coincidence that this vessel sailed to Oman to start the project, which requires the removal of some 4 million cubic meters of sand to make space for a new LNG terminal in the existing SOHAR Port and Freezone. Because with its width of 23 meters and very limited draft, the Coastway is ideally suited for dredging in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Oman. ? Boskalis also mobilized a second trailing suction hopper dredger Willem van Oranje for this extensive project. Later, the hopper dredgers will be joined by the backhoe dredger Colbart. In this way, Boskalis will create the necessary space for the expansion of the port of Sohar in the coming months, allowing it to set up new LNG-related activities. ? Boskalis’ subsea rock installation vessel Rockpiper is currently installing the pre-lay scour protection for the 95 turbine foundations of the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm in the North Sea. What makes this project unique?is the donut-shaped design, which varies slightly at each turbine location.?In other words: when the Rockpiper is finished, there will be 95 different “pieces of rock art” on the seabed. ? Contracted by Seaway7, the Rockpiper is installing more than 280,000 tons of rock at?Scottish Power Renewables’ offshore wind farm. This will?provide?scour protection berms for each of the 95 foundation piles which?will be installed at a later stage. In this way, the piles will be protected from the forces of the sea from the time of installation. ? Using trailing suction hopper dredgers Causeway and Strandway and backhoe dredger Manu Pekka, our Boskalis Westminster colleagues recently completed another dredging project in Southampton, UK. The project consisted of two phases: first, a survey of 73 targets for the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and a smaller number of potential archaeological interest. And after ruling out the presence of UXO or objects of archaeological value, the second phase began: dredging 200,000 cubic meters of dense heavy clay from the access channel and around the jetty. The dredged material was collected in our split hopper barges Terraferre 301 and 302 and then transported to a designated disposal area using our pusher tug Terramare 1. ? In the past years, we’ve worked on a regular basis in Southampton, including last year with the Causeway and backhoe dredger Magnor. Some locations have seen our presence more frequently than others, and the Port of Melbourne in the state of Victoria stands out as a prime example. ? Since 2000, we’ve consistently carried out maintenance dredging in this vibrant port. On top of that, between 2002 and 2008, our mega trailing suction hopper dredger Queen of the Netherlands played a vital role in deepening the port’s access channel to 14 meters. And now Boskalis and the Port of Melbourne have found each other in a new 'Melbourne-made match'. Over the next twelve years we will again carry out maintenance dredging in Melbourne allowing the largest ships to navigate the port with ease. ? After undergoing a thorough five-year special survey at a dry dock in Singapore and receiving a fresh coat of paint for the hull and accommodation, the vessel is looking as good as new again. ? This outstanding achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of our Fleet Management and Maintenance Cell teams as well as the crew of the Willem van Oranje. Their expertise has ensured that the vessel is in top condition and ready for future projects. ? Over the past two years, the Willem van Oranje has successfully completed long-term projects in West Africa (Togo and Benin), the Maldives and South Korea. After this extensive maintenance, the vessel is primed for many more years of exceptional service. ? In recent years, our vessels have been active along numerous beaches of the coastal provinces as well as the Dutch Wadden Islands Ameland and Texel.? ? In 2025, we will return with great regularity to reinforce the Dutch coast. In the spring, for example, we will carry out replenishment work off the coast of Domburg in the province of Zeeland, and starting in May, we will be working for several months on an extensive beach and foreshore replenishment in Ameland.?? ? In the case of our dredging project in the Port of Chiapas, located on the Pacific side of Mexico, the goal was clear: to remove a large amount of accumulated sand and excess sediment to create sufficient depth for ships calling at the port, including cruise ships. And that is exactly what our trailing suction hopper dredger Crestway recently did, both in the access channel to Puerto Chiapas and in the port basin where ships can maneuver. Now that the Crestway has left the Mexican key port on the Pacific, it is time for the (cruise) ships to arrive and use the port for what it was built for. In addition to being an important port for cruise and container vessels, the port of Chiapas is also an important hub for agricultural exports in the region. Our Crestway, meanwhile, has set course for another project in Mexico. It is performing maintenance dredging in the port of Tampico, on the Atlantic side of the country. Our powerful anchor handling tugs Manta and BOKA Forward, together with our construction support vessel BOKA Falcon, recently completed an impressive project in Italy. They were involved in the re-installation of the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) Toscana, offshore Livorno.? ?? After mobilizing in the port of Livorno, the Manta and the BOKA Forward connected themselves to the FSRU Toscana 22 kilometers offshore and then towed it to its designated location. Once there, the two vessels, along with two additional tugs, held the FSRU in position while the BOKA Falcon secured her to the seabed by installing six anchor chains to the turret. Later, several risers were installed from the BOKA Falcon by divers.? ?? And so, the precise interplay of the Manta, BOKA Forward and BOKA Falcon resulted in yet another successful offshore installation.
