I had my "Taylor Swift" moment… meeting Chris Do! I still can’t believe it was real, having hosted the GOAT. Chris Do is the ultimate real-world professor, someone I've long admired and also encourage all my students to follow and learn from. His journey from an immigrant kid to an industry pioneer is truly inspiring and transcendent-- In 1975, the fall of Saigon brought a young Chris Do and his family to the United States. Navigating the complexities of a new culture in a traditional family, Chris found solace in art—a universal language. This passion led him to the halls of ArtCenter College of Design, where he refined his craft and vision for visual storytelling and build a network of friends and connections. In 1995, with a spirit forged in adversity, he founded Blind, a Los Angeles-based consultancy that quickly gained recognition for it's innovative appraoch to motion design and storytelling, collaborating with high-profile clients such as Nike, Sony, Google, and Audi. The year 2010 marked a significant milestone—an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. This accolade was not just a personal triumph but a beacon for all who dared to turn adversities into opportunities. Having taught for 15 years recognizing the gaps in practical business education for creatives, Chris envisioned The Futur?—a platform to empower creative professionals to achieve financial success while pursuing their passions by cultivating a global community where creatives can thrive without the burden of crippling debt. A highly sought-after speaker and educator in a unique Socratic style, Chris has lectured at institutions and conferences globally. Through sharing knowledge and fostering community, Chris aims to teach 1 billion people worldwide how to make a living doing what they love. I am proud to be one of the billion as his student. Do you see a hint of #ChrisDo in my work? When I grow up, I want to be Chris Do. PS: To all my students--I'm not kidding when we talk about DREAM Speakers in class! Dreams do come true, so never stop dreaming! Texas House #BornGlobal #TrueLeap #Austin

?? What a fabulous Sunday spent with friends, family, and fellow explorers! Kudos to Arthur Ortiz for leading Born Global Houston and organizing such a fantastic guided Walking Tour of Houston’s Upper Museum District, followed by the magical TrueLeap Pop-Up Library featuring Space Architect Paolo Mangili's insightful book discussion. As a refreshing change of pace from the typical startup networking events for entrepreneurs and investors, we bonded over an exploration of Houston’s rich cultural and architectural heritage, strolling through historic landmarks while engaging in thought-provoking conversations that sparked partnerships and collaborations. Our journey began at the historic Link-Lee Mansion on the University of St. Thomas campus, where we stepped back in time to explore Houston’s architectural and cultural gems. From the Hughes House to the Academic Mall and the Chapel of St. Basil -- Philip Johnson's masterpiece -- every stop along the way offered insights into the city’s rich heritage. At the world renowned Rothko Chapel, we found a moment of meditative reflection, while The Menil Collection — welcomed us with world-class art. Finally, we ended our tour at Menil Park, where families gathered under the sun for storytime, parachute games, and an inspiring book reading by Paolo Mangili, author of Space Architects: The Celestial Adventures of Stella and Rob-8. From astronauts’ physical and mental well-being to global workforce development for the space industry across the US, Europe, China, India, and Africa, it was an incredible experience that started with a children’s book and ended with enlightening takeaways. With perfect weather and sunny skies, the day was a beautiful reminder of the joy of learning, community, and exploration. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us—your energy and engagement made this event truly special! For someone who’s never been, it’s hard to explain what South by Southwest really is. Part conference, part festival, part global gathering of creatives, innovators, and industry leaders, it’s packed with events— running from one venue to another, bumping into old connections from across the world and making new ones. This year, as I finally marked my long-overdue debut at #SXSW2025, I immersed myself in every aspect it had to offer—business, culture, and connection: ???? Firstly, The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) hosted a memorable Polish networking night, bringing together entrepreneurs and friends of #Poland. It was a proud moment to raise the Polish flag and see it flying high in #Austin, TX! ???? I also had the privilege of participating in a discussion on transatlantic innovation with the EU ambassador Jovita Neliup?ien? and European trade representatives. I’m grateful to Elizabeth Jennings for including me in this group. ?? I attended the Born Global Community panel on the future of global entrepreneurship at the #Texas House, moderated by the ever-energetic Dr. Sunny Shuoyang Zhang! ?? I joined our Czech friends at the first ever #CzechHouse for their party—another reminder of the strength and vibrancy of the CEE business community. ?? I also took part in a discussion there alongside Stef van de Vijver, where I highlighted why Poland is a prime destination for foreign investment. Thanks to Jiri Manak for having me! ?? Last but not least, Zuzanna Kobrzynski Westlund and I experienced the magic of an SXSW chance encounter that I’d heard so much about and had been highly anticipating—shoutout to Brian Comiskey for rolling with it! Already looking forward to coming back bigger, better, and stronger next year! Tomasz Bajon Micha? Turski Anna Makowska Michal J. Entrepreneurship is much broader than the idolized and idealized startup hustle model. It's an option more and more are looking at and considering. Thanks Ariel Serber for sharing, it's a great article.
Advocate for financial empowerment, literacy, and independence. Advisory solutions and problem solving for businesses; risk management, business planning, building brand equity, capital raising and more.
People want need and deserve to feel in control. Control leads to financial independence and freedom. It doesn't mean FU money; it means having the ability to make decisions on your own terms and your own timeline, that suits the life you want to live and create. High financial anxiety and stress due to many factors - internal or external feelings or beliefs, life-changing technologies, unmet expectations - is prevalent. It feels like a contagious thing that's going around and everyone is catching - flu, covid, financial uncertainty and anxiety. Also, turns out that corporate loyalty doesn't exist; even 'safe' government careers can be undone by a meme and a chainsaw. So what are people's options and what are they doing about it? One avenue being explored by many 'corporate refugees' is the kind of business you drive by without thinking about everyday - the boring businesses that have been there, doing their thing for years. They aren't landing on Crunchbase or CNBC but many have incredible cash flow and customer loyalty. And many have been owned and operated by the original proprietor for decades; and they can be looking at their life's next act (to borrow from Cara Gray), making it a perfect match. Of course "entrepreneurship through acquisition" (count on MBA programs to jargonify everything) is no guarantee of success or lack of stress. Just the opposite; everything is on the new owners' shoulders. But that's exactly what people want - there is no glide path, the world has turned and left us here. But it doesn't come with the same risks or tough, constant decisions starting from scratch entails; there's a model to follow, the playbook is in play. There are also incentives and programs in place to support the financing of these acquisitions. As always, when it comes to business and financial decisions, things don't happen in a vacuum. People are 'searchers' for a reason. But they shouldn't rush into things or make a big move because they heard about it from an influencer. It has to make sense for the individual in their and their families' situation. At the same time, the more people searching for deals means the good ones could become harder to find. Are you searching? Or thinking more about your own financial future and independence - how are you getting there? What are you creating? What are you searching for?
