We can’t forget about our mission. Family is at the core of everything we do ?? Often, it’s hard to remember “why” you’re doing something in the day-to-day… It’s not until you take a step back to look at the bigger picture that you can truly understand your impact. At BG, we understand the profound impact that active engagement in education has on growth and development, shaping true citizens of the world. As an educational nonprofit, we’re committed to applying nature-based solutions to BiG projects in ecological restoration, environmental technology, and social change. From organizing enriching activities to fostering mentorship - we support initiatives that address educational disparities and advocate for equal access to education, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. With passion and dedication, we empower the next generation to integrate their education with a deep respect for our shared ecology and an entrepreneurial mindset. ???? ?????? ???????? ????????????. ?????? ???????

My favorite food: turkey definitely ?? When I moved to Paris, many years ago, I combined my ambition of learning French with my passion for cooking and completed my diploma from the Ritz Paris Escoffier in French pastry, cuisine and wine pairing?? But as they say, you can take the girl out of Boston, but you can’t take the New Englander out of the girl?? So all of that training got amplified every year at Thanksgiving and even living in Beirut. We always had major celebrations ?? Check out our new co-opetition at Born Global (BG) that focus on food recipes and giving back to our communities.?? Happy Thanksgiving, everyone??

One evening made a difference for 4,000 families ?? This past weekend, Born Global alumna Isabella Samaha joined the Woods for Others Service Program at Boston College to make a difference for families in need. Alongside fellow students, faculty, and staff, Isabella helped distribute food to over 4,000 families, ensuring that many could enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal. Stories like Isabella’s highlight the incredible power of giving back during the holiday season. As part of our “Share the Plate” Coopetition Challenge, we’re inviting students to spotlight a local food bank. Bonus points will go to those who roll up their sleeves and volunteer, just like Isabella did! ?? Sign up for the Coopetition today and show us how you’ll share the plate. From Maine to Oxford: Her internship went global ?? We’re proud to highlight Juliette Stokes, who spent last summer with us as a Regenerative Finance Intern! Juliette’s journey with BG began helping pitch a site in Jonesboro, Maine, focused on creating a circular economy centered around a rehabilitated power plant and regenerative aquaculture. In her final months, Juliette played a key role as a liaison between entrepreneurs and Adarsh Ghosh, MBA’s finance team. She worked on high-level strategy, connecting broader narratives between BG’s work and external partners, including Cooper Yerby's mangrove desalination research. She then traveled to Oxford to attend the Nature Based Solutions Conference, where she had the opportunity to see #TeamBG's presentation on creating a scalable circular economy in Campeche, Mexico, in partnership with Planalto. Today, Juliette is pursuing her Master’s in International Business and Sustainability at Sciences Po in Paris. This spring, she also wrapped up her internship at Hermès, where she worked on reducing single-use plastics in their retail supply chain!

He explored the math behind nature’s beauty ?? All through Born Global courses and offerings… This summer, Mustafa Hariri’s passion for math took on a new meaning as he explored nature’s repeating patterns, from the golden ratio to Sierpinski's triangle, and discovered how these concepts connect to music, biology, and environmental science. Through our new Book of Life course offering, he researched the bottle gourd and how its hydrodynamic shape helps with seed dispersal. Inspired by this organism, he looked further into using its shape to transform agricultural practices in Lebanon through the subsequent course– the Scroll of Vision: ? Born Global’s unique program that allows students to develop a sustainability & biomimicry-infused passion project of their own, building upon their work in the Book of Life. We’re fortunate to have Mustafa as part of #TeamBG’s course cohort and can’t wait to see the incredible work he continues to accomplish!

How geometry is reshaping chemistry innovation?? We’re excited to highlight another impactful final project from one of our Project Managers, Andrew Meador! This summer, Andrew led the development of an innovative curriculum called Nature’s Geometry—a program that dives deep into the fascinating intersection of chemistry, mathematics, and biomimicry. This curriculum is laying the foundation for sustainable chemistry innovation, pushing the boundaries of how we design and produce in harmony with nature. ?? A big thank you to Andrew and his team of interns—Anacorina Romero, Angelo Fayad, Georges Ghanem, Mustafa Hariri, and Sarah Stephan—for your dedication and hard work this summer! As Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.” ??

Two sisters, one united mission ?? When Belle He first joined Born Global in 2020, she had no idea she’d soon be bringing her sister, Katrina He, along for the journey. What began with Belle exploring sustainable innovation on the Archetypes as Metrics project soon evolved into the “He Sisters” legacy! Their collaboration took shape through the Energy Storage project, where they explored nanocoated salts from SaltX Technology to push energy storage technology forward. Together, they developed essential skills in feasibility analysis and partner collaboration, paving the way for leading more advanced projects ahead. Today, Katrina is our Program Director, where she recently helped launch pilots for the Book of Life and Scroll of Vision—foundational courses guiding over 50 students in biomimicry and sustainability projects. Belle, now a Senior Analyst at Southern California Edison (SCE), is specializing in resource and environmental planning & strategy. We’re so proud to celebrate the He Sisters’ impact on Born Global and beyond!
