Reflections on the Eaton Canyon Fires Walking through the aftermath of the Altadena fires is a sobering experience. The loss is heartbreaking—homes reduced to ashes, memories gone in an instant. Our thoughts are with everyone affected as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding. We engineered many homes in this area utilizing light gauge steel walls and floors. The roofs were framed with wood trusses. One image stood out to us: walls still standing, but roofs gone and interior walls collapsing. It appears wood rafter tails and vents allowed fire to travel to the attic, burn the roof structure.?It’s a powerful reminder that while we can’t prevent fires, we must apply best practices moving forward. To everyone impacted, we stand with you. #Altadena #Altadenastrong #LAFires #EatonFire #StructuralEngineering #Resilience #RebuildingStronger #BORM #woodunderfire LCRA Architects Robert Hidey Architects Masoud Bokaie George Richards

Spoiler alert! 2025 is looking GOOD! Last week, BORM attended the BIA Orange County Chapter 2025 Economic Update, and John Burns delivered an incredible keynote. His deep dive into the Orange County market was not just insightful—it was backed by an impressive level of data that made the trends crystal clear. The most intriguing part? The sheer amount of statistics and analysis that supported his outlook. It’s one thing to hear predictions, but seeing the numbers behind them really drove the message home. And the bottom line? OC’s market is in great shape heading into 2025! Big thanks to BIA OC for putting together such a valuable event. Excited to see how this year unfolds! #BIAOC #OrangeCounty #EconomicUpdate #JohnBurns #RealEstate #StructuralEngineering Annie Tutunjian Masoud Bokaie Debbie Penko, PE
