The leading soil carbon project developer powered by AI and remote sensing technology | Earthshot Prize Winner '23

关于我们

Boomitra works with farmers and ranchers worldwide to increase soil carbon through improved agricultural practices and generate internationally certified carbon removal credits. We use proprietary AI and satellite technology to monitor, report, and verify (MRV) soil organic carbon to a 30cm+ depth, without physical soil sampling, reducing measurement costs by 99%. The process is cost-efficient, time effective, and scalable across various landholding sizes – enabling Boomitra to work globally: 5M+ acres, 150,000+ farmers, 4 continents, millions of credits sold to date. Boomitra sells the carbon credits to corporations and governments worldwide, enabling them to meet their sustainability goals. Farmers and landowners earn the vast majority of proceeds from each carbon credit sold, allowing them to re-invest in their farms and local communities. Boomitra means “Friend of the Earth” in Sanskrit. That is who we are and hope to inspire others to be. Learn more at boomitra.com

???#TeamMemberSpotlight: Meet Sunandini Soni, a Backend Developer at Boomitra! ???Sunandini is from Bhitarwar, a small town in the Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh, India. She loves the strong sense of community that comes from everyone knowing each other. Surrounded by croplands, the town is also home to the beautiful Parvati River. ???Growing up around farms, agriculture has always been part of Sunandini’s daily life. Seeing the dedication of farmers, dairy workers, and laborers gave her a deep appreciation for their hard work. Her grandparents, who were also farmers, inspired her to care about soil health—not just for better crops, but for the environment and the people who rely on it. ???As a Backend Developer at Boomitra, Sunandini focuses on building reliable systems and useful features that support both the team and users. Her work helps ensure a smooth experience for everyone relying on Boomitra’s platform, from farmers to rancheres to credit buyers. ???Sunandini gained her expertise through hands-on experience with backend technologies, databases, and cloud infrastructure. But she also credits her growth to collaborating with different teams, learning new problem-solving approaches, and continuously expanding her technical skills. “Every day is an opportunity to learn something new—whether it’s about a new technology, a better way to approach a problem, or how to build solutions that make a real impact. Learning never stops, and I believe that continuous growth is the key to producing meaningful results.” ???One of Sunandini’s favorite soil facts? A single handful of healthy soil contains more microorganisms than there are people on Earth! She finds it fascinating that this hidden world plays a vital role in storing carbon, growing food, and keeping the planet healthy. ???Get to know more of our team members, industry insights, and impact stories by subscribing to The Monthly Capture on LinkedIn:?https://lnkd.in/dkmhmTpA

Boomitra is on a mission to transform agriculture into a force for climate resilience and rural prosperity. That’s why we’re excited to share this powerful report from?Mercy Corps, which highlights how investing in?regenerative agriculture?can strengthen food security, boost smallholder farmers’ incomes, and build resilience against climate shocks. The report emphasizes three strategies that align with Boomitra’s approach: ???Soil health as a foundation:?healthy soils boost productivity, increase water retention, and store more carbon, creating long-term benefits for both farmers and the planet. ???Climate-smart practices: from rotational grazing to cover cropping, nature-based solutions improve yields while reducing environmental impact. ???Farmer-centric solutions: supporting smallholders with access to finance, training, and fair carbon markets enables them to thrive in unpredictable conditions. At Boomitra, we’re proud to scale these solutions by connecting farmers to climate finance, unlocking barriers to regenerative ag across the Global South. Beneath our feet?lives?a?humble?climate hero: mycorrhizal fungi.?These underground networks act as soil’s circulatory system, helping plants exchange nutrients, store carbon, and build soil health. ? A recent The New York Times article explores the power of fungi and their capacity for innovation. Some key stats:? ??? 13 billion tons of CO2 enter the soil each year through fungi ??? 80% of the world’s plants rely on fungal networks to survive and thrive ????Fungal networks expand adaptively, and fungal decision-making is akin to a trade algorithm At Boomitra, we harness the power of soil—and the fungi within it—to capture carbon, boost agricultural resilience, and support farmers worldwide. ???Read the article: https://lnkd.in/en9BRte4 ???Learn more about how Boomitra supports healthy soils and their fungi:?https://lnkd.in/gfF47Y27

???Soil is the key to water security. Agriculture uses 70% of global freshwater, yet conventional farming depletes soil, worsens droughts, and fuels desertification. Regenerative agriculture flips the script—boosting soil organic matter to help land retain water, reduce runoff, and withstand climate shocks. From Kenya to Mexico, farmers and ranchers enrolled in Boomitra’s projects are proving that healthy soil means resilient harvests. Healthy soils are the foundation of our food systems, and regenerative agriculture is proving to be the most effective way to build soil health. The latest analysis from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) highlights how regenerative agriculture improves six key soil health factors:? ?? moisture retention ?? soil structure ?? microbial activity ?? biomass accumulation ?? pH balance ??? temperature regulation Practices like no-till farming, permanent green cover, species richness, and soil amendments play a crucial role in restoring degraded lands, enhancing climate resilience, and increasing farm productivity—all while sequestering carbon. At Boomitra, we work with farmers and ranchers worldwide, incentivizing them to adopt these high-impact methods through carbon finance. The result? Healthier soils, increased yields, and new revenue streams for those on the front lines of climate action. Read the full report:?https://lnkd.in/gXTsdptT

Last Friday, Boomitra had the honor of hosting a delegation from the National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore (NCCS) at the Boomitra headquarters in San Mateo. The visit was led by Joel Tee, Director at NCCS, and coordinated by Ji Inn Wong, Regional Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). Our CEO Aadith Moorthy and COO Satya Satyamoorthy had insightful discussions with them on how soil carbon solutions can drive climate resilience, support sustainable agriculture, and contribute to Singapore’s bold climate ambitions. As global leaders take action to reduce emissions and enhance carbon sequestration, partnerships like these are what will allow us to achieve gigaton-scale solutions. Thank you to the NCCS and EDB teams for your engagement—let's keep moving the needle on climate change!
