There was a time after my son's #autism #diagnosis, especially when I took a #sabbatical of about 4 years, I really thought I would never be able to work again, no one would understand the challenges of my life, and my friendships and relationships would all bear the #burden of #caregiving. The grief, shame, guilt, and also the fear of an #unknownfuture are all very hard for new parents to deal with. But those four years gave me the confidence to handle my new normal of #specialneedsparenting, for I was immersed in the process of educating myself. But the years after that helped me find myself. I started to #prioritise myself and my life and, most importantly, reached out to people and #accepted #help. Life is always a #workinprogress but this book is my humble offering to those caregivers who have forgotten that #theytoomatter.
