At the 2023 NJASL Fall Conference, William Paterson University's Neil Grimes and Dr. Ellen Pozzi shared the preliminary results from their research study on the effectiveness of Bookji. The findings demonstrated how Bookji can affect student reading motivation, collection development, social-emotional learning, and geographic awareness. Jennifer Coppock-Huegel, a middle school librarian from Clifton, NJ, also spoke about her students' experiences using the platform for 12 weeks. She told the story of how two boys in her school, who never seemed to show interest in reading, were excited about books after using Bookji. Jennifer also noted that Bookji felt her students "starve" for social media since they are prohibited from using phones in school. She also pointed out how students love to send her messages on Bookji about books they want to read and how this makes things easy for her and her students. We were excited to hear these stories and look forward to hearing the results of Neil Grimes and Dr. Ellen Pozzi's research study.
