Book Harvest founder and CEO, Ginger Young, recently joined moderator Reginald Love and fellow panelists Elizabeth McChesney and Michelle Hamiel at the National Summer Learning Association Summit this week in DC. Their panel, "Literacy for All: Building Partnerships for Youth Success," addressed the?power of books in ensuring that students can thrive during summer.

It's the start of November, but at Book Harvest we're always thinking about summer! Summer matters to North Carolina children - a lot. And we have the chance to transform it from a time of inequity to a time of enrichments for all. For us, that means an abundance of books - and bringing the Books on Break experience to every child in our midst. But we can’t do it alone; collective action is needed to achieve our goal of literacy and justice for all. Which is why Book Harvest team members, Mary Mathew and Cheri Coleman, recently partnered with Safiyah Jackson, Chief Strategy Officer at the The North Carolina Partnership for Children (NCPC), to share this message and issue a call to action at the 2024 Color of Education Summit in Raleigh, North Carolina.
