Book Harvest’s mission is to provide books for every child, support for every parent, and literacy for every community.
关于我们
Book Harvest believes that literacy is one of the greatest civil rights issues of our time. Our mission is to provide books for every child, support for every parent and literacy for every community. We dream of the day when every child grows up with a love of books, reading, and learning, and is equipped with the language and literacy tools to thrive in school, work, and life. In pursuit of literacy and justice for all, Book Harvest works to advance three core agendas: EARLY LITERACY SYSTEM OF CARE The Book Harvest Early Literacy System of Care delivers literacy equity through a unique continuum of three evidence-informed, parent-powered programs that ensure that literacy is nurtured and home libraries are built for every child, from birth and over the first decade of life. The programs which comprise this Early Literacy System of Care are: Books from Birth (newborns), Book Babies (ages 0-5), and Books on Break (ages 5-10). COMMUNITY WIDE CULTURE OF LITERACY Book Harvest believes that growing up with an abundance of books from birth is essential for children to flourish. Book Harvest helps families harvest books and discover playful learning activities in all the places they go in their everyday lives: schools, laundromats, parks, health clinics, barbershops and more! Community-wide literacy programs ensure that families can build their own home libraries filled with engaging, culturally inclusive books and create rich home literacy environments to lay the foundation for a lifetime of literacy. ADVOCACY Book Harvest believes that growing up with an abundance of books is every child’s birthright, and that solving any challenge our society faces begins with a foundation of literacy. We are dedicated to influencing systems to ensure that literacy is within reach for every child. We aim to deepen our impact across our founding state of North Carolina and the country by advocating for improved policies that support literacy equity, beginning at birth.
