HOWEVER, Upstate Warrior Solution's vision became a reality creating the Rupert Huse Veteran Center. The award winning design was created to build a sense of comfort for veterans as they move back into civilian life. Exciting day at East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte! Nicole Lyons set up this outing with her connections over at Balfour Beatty, the group visited students in the ACE Mentor Program. Matt Hanson and Kyle Peters led a presentation on flooring and the role that Bonitz plays in the construction industry.?Nick Frega attended and presented on one of our specialties: acoustical ceilings.?Joshua Boncosky led the students and mentors in one of his famous terrazzo activities. Everyone gets to learn hands-on about specialty flooring and creates their own customized terrazzo coaster! Over all our team worked together to give everyone a snapshot of what we do, inspiring these kids to think about the potential opportunities that their future might hold. The students loved it and can’t wait to make this an annual tradition! ? The ACE Mentor Program of Charlotte is an after-school program for young people interested in exploring career opportunities in architecture, construction, engineering and the skilled trades. What a great turnout for our Annual IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter Membership Appreciation Event at The Angus Barn Pavilion this past Thursday! Thank you to each of our Annual Sponsors for the financial support that keeps our organization moving forward, and to Roberta Scoblick for making sure this event went off without a hitch! A great time was had by all and the food was excellent per usual. We were honored to have a table full of United States Marine Corps members in attendance to speak about our annual Marine Toys for Tots Foundation toy drive led by our Community Outreach Committee. We were able to recognize one of our Wake Technical Community College scholarship winners, Ben Addis. We also announced the creation of The Tim Carr, CFM Professional Development Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a member each year to cover the cost of the CFM, FMP, or SFP certifications that Tim was so passionate about.
