It's Bonita Fierce Candles' 3rd birthday! ?? Three years ago I wasn't dreaming big enough. This business was a side hustle to my 9-5. It was a way for me to become creative and reclaim my cultural identity. What I didn't realize is that it would become a cultural movement with a clear vision - to create better-for-you products that cement a space for diverse, nuanced Latin@ voices and stories. 2022 and 2023 had me dreaming for the world - and I made it happen. This past year has been filled with incredible memories, thousands of new faces, and monumental moments. New Retailer Launch! ?? Bonita Fierce Candles has launched at Urban Outfitters online as the first Latina-owned candle brand at the retailer! This year has been one of the toughest and most successful yet. We moved from my garage candle studio into the entire downstairs living area of my house, and outgrew it. I hit my first 6-figure month. Last year, it was my first 6-figure year. I've done it without investors, obtaining as much non-dilutive capital as possible, and to be completely transparent, maxing out my 0% APR credit cards from Amex and Chase. I didn't pay myself all summer long. I worked myself sick. I kept pushing that our sales strategies would work to help purchase the next pallet of wax. We continue to have hardships and come out on the other side stronger. My mission and vision stay strong: to revolutionize the toxic and generic home fragrance industry by creating better for you products that cement a space for diverse, nuanced Latinx/e voices and stories.
