Like many immigrants of color, Anu Gupta grappled with a sense of? 'otherness' from an early age after immigrating from India to the U.S.—a world entirely unfamiliar to him. While he learned to suppress his feelings of being different, enduring racism, homophobia, and Islamophobia, it was when he hit rock bottom that he realized a change was needed. This pivotal moment sparked Anu’s mission to advocate for the global unlearning of bias. He founded 'Be More with Anu,' a professional development company that trains leaders across corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors to advance inclusion and wellness by breaking bias. In response, Centennial Parkside Community Development Corporation (CPCDC) was formed with a bold mission: to preserve, promote, and revitalize the neighborhood. With support from the U.S. Green Building Council, Informa Connect, and this year's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo Legacy Project, CPCDC (CENTENNIAL PARKSIDE CDC) has been able to focus on creating a variety of projects that focus on activating public spaces, linking the stories of past and present, celebrating the neighborhood’s rich culture, and fostering a community of connectedness with the hope of creating and sustaining East Parkside’s resilient legacy.
