?? Celebrating 2 Years at Bold Penguin: Insights from the Glacier ???? Today marks my two-year work anniversary at Bold Penguin and I wanted to share some reflections on the journey so far—especially for all the commercial insurance agents out there. When I launched a scratch agency specializing in small commercial in 2017, Bold Penguin played a pivotal role in growing it from $0 to $2M in premium in just a few years. Fast forward to today, and Bold Penguin’s products have not only improved dramatically but have become even more affordable for retail agents. What was great seven years ago is now a game-changer for both new and established agencies. ?? ?? One thing that has become crystal clear: agents are more critical than ever in the commercial insurance space. In my experience, 8 out of 10 small business owners don’t fully grasp their commercial insurance needs. Even with a proliferation of direct-to-consumer options, I’d never advise a business owner to purchase coverage without the guidance of a knowledgeable agent. ?? Relationships still matter. That said, relationships look different today. Handshakes and rounds of golf are often replaced with social media touches, emails, and Zoom calls. But there are huge opportunities for agents to deepen digital connections, build trust, and add value to clients and prospects alike. ???? And finally, let’s talk tech trends. I'm old enough to have seen plenty of fads come and go, but AI? It’s the real deal. Think about the internet in the ‘90s—AI will have that kind of impact on our industry and then some. The agents who adopt AI early will thrive in this fast-evolving market and outpace their competition. They'll also be able to enrich digital relationships and maintain relevancy as direct-to-consumer options continue to expand. ????
