India Art Fair presents 'Indigenous Fashion Futures: A Living Archive', curated by Sreyansi Singh in association with Fashion Design Council of India for the Young Collectors’ Programme. The exhibition tells the story of resistance with what the body wears—peoples’ memories, histories of forgotten gods, myths of the land. It maps indigenous fashion identities in India as record-keepers of their ancestors, as living, unyielding archives for the future—breathing, singing, resisting. After spending 15 years navigating the corporate world in Bengaluru, Richa Maheshwari returned to her roots in Odisha with a mission to revive the state’s textile heritage. This journey inspired her to create Boito, a luxury label deeply connected to Odisha’s artisanal traditions. [Read full story ?? https://lnkd.in/gmt2HuW9] The brand is named after the ancient maritime festival Boita Bandana, which celebrates voyages of trade and culture. Richa traveled across Odisha, discovering some of the state’s best textile traditions in places like Pipli, Nuapatna, Sambalpur, and Koraput, where she encountered the rich craftsmanship of local artisans. Initially, Richa collaborated with designer Anshu Arora and 15 weavers. Together, they reimagined traditional weaves into trench coats, jumpsuits, and dresses, blending heritage with modernity.
