If you’ve been to a Boise State event, you’ve probably seen Cpl. Brek Orton. Cpl. Orton has worked for the Boise Police Department for about 25 years in various roles including his current assignment as a Boise State Police Officer and a member of the Special Operations Unit. Boise State holds a special place in his heart as he was once a student there. As an officer, he's built great working relationships throughout the Boise community and at Boise State University. While he likes to say he’s just a “regular dude,” through his many years of public service he's helped save many lives, receiving multiple Silver Star awards and a Medal of Honor for his bravery. “It’s just rewarding,” said Cpl. Orton. “You know you go out and you handle calls for service and every once in a while you make a really big difference in someone’s life.” #EmployeeHighlight

Meet Det. Jordan Gustin! He is one of our dedicated Special Victims Unit Detectives that work alongside several community partners at the Ada County Victim Services Center in Downtown Boise. Gustin came from the Ogden Police Department, joining BPD in 2021 as a patrol officer before taking on this important role in SVU in May 2022. As a detective he investigates cases involving child abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking. “These are the true victims that have been subjected to some of the most violent and heinous crimes,” said Det. Gustin. “As soon as I had the opportunity to get into this role again I wanted to take on that responsibility. Investigating these cases is the most rewarding thing that I can put my time into.”

Check out this amazing opportunity to lead a first class department in a wonderful place to live! I have really enjoyed getting to engage with the members of the Boise Police Department and the residents of the Boise community. I would highly recommend considering Boise if you are looking for a place to make a difference as a Chief of Police. #ChiefofPolice, #BoiseID, #policeleadership
