Today kicks off Idaho Gives, where we aim to raise $100k in four days! This Idaho Gives, we invite you to join us on the path to opportunity: a journey that may begin with getting a bicycle, but extends to the personal, social, and economic opportunities that a bicycle provides. To donate, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gKQPrHVs The Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway is our flagship event, where we bring our community together to give over 500 bikes to kids and families in a single day. We work with an extensive referral network of community partners and nonprofit organizations to connect with kids in need of a bicycle and the connection and agency they provide. Alongside a team of volunteers and changemakers, we take a simple drawing and make magic - transforming it into a dreambike personalized to each kid. This event represents the best pieces of our community coming together to do something incredible, including women incarcerated at the South Boise Women’s Correctional Facility. These women are participants in our Shifting Gears program, in which they learn how to repair bicycles and gain job training & skills, as well as a restorative opportunity to see their impact in action as they run our bicycle safety course during the event and engage directly with the community that their work empowers. In 2023, we were able to give away 1,666 bicycles, with 250 of those bicycles refurbished by graduates of our Shifting Gears program. Your donation this Idaho Gives will allow us to ensure that all kids and families in our community have access to bicycles, while also serving to expand apprenticeship programming for incarcerated women and teens, This year we have a goal to raise $100,000 to ensure that all kids and families in our community have access to bicycles, while also serving to expand apprenticeship programming for teens and incarcerated women. Will you donate $25, $50, $100, or whatever is meaningful to you to help us expand our advocacy work and fund these new apprenticeship programs? Thanks to a generous donor, every dollar we receive during Idaho Gives will be matched up to $50,000! To donate, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gKQPrHVs

You can make a child's holiday dream come true! By adopting a kids bike, YOU can give a child the sense of freedom a bike provides. Bikes are available for adoption and range from $75-125. You can also purchase a light, lock, and helmet for $50 or donate what you can. Visit our website (boisebicycleproject.org) to learn more or adopt a kids bike. Some of the most common reasons for why these kids want bikes include: - To get around safely to and from school - To ride with & visit friends - To explore, play, and race around - To go super fast! - To take their dolls or stuffed animals on a ride When a kid is given a bike, they’re also given a sense of freedom.
