We are excited to welcome Tim Nunez to the Bob D. Campbell & Company team! Tim is a recent graduate from the University of Arkansas with a master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Originally from Shawnee, KS, Tim decided to pursue a career in structural engineering as he became interested in how components can be designed to provide a safe and dependable structure, along with a fascination to see this work come to life in the community around him. He is currently an E.I.T working towards obtaining a Professional Engineering license and aims to become a licensed Structural Engineer. Outside of work, Tim loves to spend time outdoors, fishing, hiking, or playing soccer with friends as well as cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Welcome to the team, Tim!

BDC was proud to partner with Treanor on the design of the Jasper County Courthouse in Joplin, Missouri. This state-of-the art, 84,000 SF justice facility featured important safety measures and architectural elements like the large entrance/lobby and floor to ceiling glass in public corridors. Joplin began as a mining town in the 1870s, and true to its history, construction of the new courthouse building was complicated by the discovery of an old mine shaft below the planned foundation. An interesting challenge for both the design and construction teams to tackle!

With the Country Club Plaza now under new ownership, we are looking forward to playing a role in exciting new developments including Cocina 47 with TR,i Architects and other partners. The three-story mixed use building includes cantilevered exterior balcony restaurant seating, cantilevered canopy features, and corner feature rooftop tower. Due to local building height restrictions, steel members were designed with attention to limit story heights but still provide 14’-0” clearance for tenants. Further site restrictions dictated column locations and challenged designers to support exterior brick veneer with double cantilevered beams. Moment frames provide building lateral load bracing to allow for open floor plans and tenant flexibility. #structuraldesign #constructionengineering #countryclubplaza

When it’s a 14-story building, or there are exposed columns and beams, or there’s a striking architectural design, the structural design element of a building can be more evident. But sometimes, our work simply fades into the background of a project and is more functional in nature.  For the renovation of this project with pluribus architectural collaborative llc, our team provided things like header details on new wall openings for doorways and structural support for trusses to hang new audio/visual equipment from.   Thanks, Jeffrey Schutzler, for including us in this post – it’s always a pleasure to work with you and your team.  We’re so glad to have helped provide a space that the youth of Vineyard Church can use and enjoy for years to come!

Please join us in welcoming Cheyenne Hornbuckle to the Bob D. Campbell & Company team! After interning with us last year and graduating this May from University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Cheyenne has now joined us full time.   Cheyenne chose the field of structural engineering because she loves problem solving and the design process that comes with construction of new or existing structures. She is currently working toward her Master's of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural. Cheyenne is in the process of enrolling as an E.I.T., and will work toward becoming a licensed Professional and Structural Engineer.   We appreciate all of Cheyenne's contributions and hard work during her internship and we are excited to have her on board full time. Welcome to the team, Cheyenne!

Congratulations to the City of Overland Park & the Overland Park Police Department on the opening of the new Fire Station #41. It was a true honor to be a part of this project alongside our client, SFS Architecture. We appreciate all project partners who came together to design and construct the new 16,000 square foot, 4-bay, 3-company station.
