  • Understanding Tax Deadlines for Businesses As a business owner, staying on top of tax deadlines is crucial to avoiding penalties and ensuring compliance. Here’s a breakdown of key tax deadlines you should be aware of: 1. Quarterly Estimated Taxes Most businesses are required to pay estimated taxes quarterly. Here are the typical deadlines: Q1 Payment: April 15 Q2 Payment: June 15 Q3 Payment: September 15 Q4 Payment: January 15 of the following year 2. Annual Tax Returns Depending on your business structure, your annual tax return deadlines vary: Sole Proprietorships: April 15 (Form 1040 with Schedule C) Partnerships: March 15 (Form 1065) S Corporations: March 15 (Form 1120S) C Corporations: April 15 (Form 1120) 3. Employment Taxes If you have employees, you must also adhere to deadlines for payroll taxes: Monthly/Quarterly Deposits: Depending on your payroll size, deposits are due on the 15th of the following month or quarterly. Form 941 (Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return): Due April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31. Form W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement): Must be provided to employees by January 31. 4. Sales Tax Sales tax deadlines can vary by state. Typically, they are due monthly or quarterly, so check with your state’s revenue department for specific dates. 5. Extensions If you need more time to file, you can request an extension. However, remember that an extension to file is not an extension to pay. You’ll still need to estimate and pay any taxes owed by the original due date. Why It Matters Missing these deadlines can lead to penalties, interest, and unnecessary stress. Staying organized and proactive will help ensure you meet your obligations and keep your business running smoothly. If you need help managing your tax deadlines or filing, our team is here to assist! Let’s make tax season a little less taxing together! #TaxDeadlines #BusinessTax #TaxSeason #BoardwalkBookeeping www.bwalkbooks.com
