?? Attention Email Marketers! ?? GOOGLE & YAHOO REQUIREMENTS ON JUNE 1ST! Here’s what you need to know ?????? According to the latest updates from Google's Bulk Sender Guidelines, starting June 2024, bulk senders exceeding a user-reported spam rate of 0.3% will face serious consequences. Translation? If your spam rate crosses that threshold, you could find your emails blocked from Gmail for up to 7 days! ?If you haven't installed Google Postmaster yet - DO IT. You're missing out on valuable data that isn't shown in your Email Platform to monitor spam rates. (Fun fact: Gmail hides spam complaints from ESPs) So what does this mean for your brand starting June 1st? If you reach 0.3% spam, you’re going to be blocked from Gmail from sending for about 7 days until you’re eligible for mitigation.. aka asking Gmail for a 2nd chance. How can we try to prevent this? Interestingly enough, we should try to SEND MORE EMAILS says Jimmy Kim. At BMO Media, our larger clients who send almost daily show that they have the lowest spam rates. How?! The more emails you send (with strong segmentation of course) = larger daily volume = low spam percentages What we’ve seen for smaller brands who send less frequently get spam spikes on the days where you don’t have a campaign. Here’s an example: - Day 1: Campaign delivers to 200k recipients - Day 2: 20 people mark as spam from the campaign yesterday, but now today we only have? 2,000 recipients only from email automations. - The result? 20 ÷ 2,000 = 1% spam Now, onto strategy for the small/medium brands: - Build your top segments with extremely high engagement. - Split them out into 2-4 buckets depending on how many emails you send monthly - Send the campaign to each unique bucket spread out everyday - The end goal: keep our email send volume high everyday so our spam % will be low.
