VVA is thrilled to announce our partnership with Youth Enrichment Services and the groundbreaking of their Yawkey Youth Development Center.? ? This three-story, 16,000?SF project?in Jamaica Plain,?Boston,?will include a ski shop, bike?shop?storage, lockers, winter equipment storage, and a rock-climbing wall?for Boston youth to enjoy and explore, a 2,400 SF multipurpose room, classrooms for leadership workshops, college preparation and career exploration programs, as well as administrative and operational spaces. To top it all off, and as a commitment to sustainability, the rooftop will?receive a new solar panel?ready. Project managers from our Boston?VVA?office will lead the team, working alongside?Architect?EMBARC, Timberline Construction Corporation, BLW Engineers, H+O Structural Engineering, and Kyle Zick Landscape Architecture. Upon its completion and opening in 2026, this state-of-the-art headquarters facility will enable YES to serve over 2,000 youth annually by 2031. DSA’s Ross Speer was one of a number of individuals who were happy to share a few words of congratulations during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Carol Ave Apartments in Brighton. Due to the day’s terrible weather, attendees gathered in one of the renovated units for the celebration and the sharing of positive and enthusiastic messages. This extensive renovation project was one of - if not the first - Deep Energy Retrofits (DER) and complete electrification of an existing historic building in the City of Boston.?The Carol Ave Apartments development, estimated to have been built circa 1910, includes 3 buildings and provides 33 rental units, all designated as affordable.?This project with Allston Brighton CDC was supported via a number of different funding sources, including among others the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), MassDevelopment, and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC).
