?? New Job Opportunity! Idaho Charter School Network (ICSN) is looking for a founding Executive Director. ICSN supports efforts to strengthen Idaho’s charter school movement and the national charter school sector. ICSN is currently operating as a 501(c)4 and working to establish a 501(c)3. A group of the state’s highest-performing public charter school operators has come together to serve on the ICSN board and provide leadership while building the organization. Idaho is projected to continue being one of the nation’s only states adding new K-12 students annually. While other states have seen a decline in their overall K-12 enrollment, NCES projects an increase of 11% in Idaho’s enrollment. With the support of BluumOrg (a 501(c)3 organization), the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, a federal Charter School Program (CSP) grant, the Charter School Growth Fund, as well as local support, the state is committed to creating at least 8,825 new charter school seats over the next seven years. Additionally, the Idaho Legislature and Governor have been strong supporters of charter schools. The ICSN Board of Directors seeks a credible, politically savvy charter school advocate to serve as the founding Executive Director (ED). The ED will work closely with the Board, BluumOrg, member organizations, and partners to strengthen and expand a broad, diverse coalition of support for charter schools in the state and engage with various stakeholders to advance ICSN's priorities. Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield met with students, parents and education leaders at Idaho Novus Classical Academy at the end of October. After a tour, the group gathered in the cafeteria and talked about all things education. The charter school opened this year and many of the educators and parents in attendance talked about the mission of Novus, specifically, how the academy is preparing students for life-long learning. Sage International Network of Schools is providing an excellent education for students in Idaho!
? ? ? Sage International School of Boise is a charter school that serves around 1,000 students in grades K–12. It is recognized as both a goal maker and a top performer—meaning it meets annual interim progress targets and is ranked in the top 10th percentile or above on key performance indicators. Upwards of 86% of eligible Sage International Students take advantage of the Advanced Opportunities Program to get a jump start on college courses, workforce training, or overload courses. 70% of educators here have six or more years of teaching experience. 32% of students attending are from low-income families. The rate of chronic absenteeism at Sage is below 1%, one of the lowest in the state. Sage International is a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization, a nonprofit headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. As its website explains, the school engages students within an inclusive international learning community, challenging all members to take risks and contribute locally and globally through open-minded inquiry. ? ? ?
