Helping B2B tech and SaaS companies profitably get from Point B to Point C through relevance and resonance.
关于我们
I provide discrete strategic contract work, as well as serving as a fractional CMO under contract, for a wide range of B2B marketing needs: - Integrated content marketing strategy, buyer journey mapping, and content writing - Demand generation strategy, funnel modeling, KPI targets, and IMC campaign development (demand and brand) - New or renewing marketing messaging and positioning - Customer data audits of the database's accuracy, structure, and accessibility for segmentation, personalization, and reporting/analysis. Working for leading B2B marketing agencies and directly for tech and SaaS companies, I've built a comprehensive, horizontal consulting skill set. As you can see,d these range from starting new content departments and agencies, planning demand generation strategic playbooks and departments, developing and implementing marketing automation operations beyond email, and more than my fair share of customer insight work, positioning, messaging, and segmentation. But that journey across dozens of clients in myriad strategic roles gives me something else of value: I have learned how to marry content strategy with first-party data with third-party data with marketing automation. I learned I needed to do that because marketing automation is not "automatic." That "right message, right prospect, right time" notion we've talked about for twenty years. It only works when you recognize a digital prospect's intent signals AND the persona/user story. Then, have your content organized and tagged so it can be served up to match that buyer's buying cycle stage. All because you and I mapped the intent signals to the pain points to the content that answers the question asked relevantly and resonantly to drive engagement and action. Current fractional CMO clients include ACHNET and Layr. Additionally, we work with some fantastic startups with early-stage strategy.

See the power of using Content Platforms to move beyond one-off content assets to campaigns that allow for efficient planning and repurposing for customers at each phase of their decision process - meeting them where they are.

OK, please stick with me. This is relevant to work and marketing ?? and I think the payoff is worth it. I was listening to one of my favorite rugby podcasts and last night, interviewing the backs coach of the team (Edinburgh), which just won the championship of the professional rugby league I follow (URC if you care, I'm a Connact fan if you are a fellow rugby nerd). Still with me? Thank you. The coach talked about the environment they try to create to maintain focus and high effort during grueling practice sessions, weight room work, and film study. He started to say something I was expecting about bonding and fun but, with intentionality, he qualified it: "We foster a sense of individual and collective enjoyment. 'Enjoyment' is not the same thing as 'fun.'" I've been trying for maybe five years to express this idea in my work and personal life (especially in sports, where choreographed end-zone routines and endless discussion about player taunting have led me to watch NFL games with the sound off ?? ). Enjoyment is about satisfaction. In sports, that is a hug from a teammate or a coach pulling you aside when you did something well - especially if it was asked of you. You know what, I think it is not. In our jobs, it is not forced parties, corporate retreats, general "thank you" emails to employees, procedural gift cards, or deciding to get a massage chair. It is getting up for work and not dreading it, knowing that your work and ideas will be regularly recognized by peers and supervisors when you are there. It is knowing that the roadblocks you face and communicate will be taken seriously when raised. And those who can help will tell you quickly what they can and can't do...acting on the former as fast as possible while acknowledging the legitimacy of the latter but with a clear rationale as to why it cannot happen and the invitation to consider alternatives. It is leadership investing the time and money to enable the measurement of the "KPIs" they insist they want via money for constant improvement of databases, integrations, automation, and tools needed to create reports and analyze the data in a reasonable amount of time. That, to me and to so many of the wonderful people I've had the pleasure to manage, want from work: Enjoyment. If you are a leader with the power to push or change your company's culture, consider starting with increasing (and measuring) increased "Enjoyment," and you will be shocked by what you get in return. For my fellow B2B marketers, MarketingProfs had an amazing piece today on the changing buying habits of Gen-Z workers. It's a definite clip-and-save. https://lnkd.in/gFSZFjpA

I was asked recently what "IMC" was and how is/was it different by a younger colleague. I realized I was old enough to answer it. So here you go.
What does "integrated marketing" mean today?
