After taking a lot of time with the family and looking at countless software companies, I'm thrilled to be joining BlueTrace as Head of Sales to help?spread the word of the best inventory management software in the seafood industry. In the first week, I was blown away by how good of a product the team has built and how much customers love using it on a daily basis to run their operations. Based right on the Boston Fish Pier in a customer's space (shoutout Rocky Neck Fish), it's been amazing to see how BlueTrace's software is helping modernize operations and increase traceability of seafood, ultimately giving consumers more confidence that they're getting the best seafood possible. The setup is amazing. On my first visit with Chip T., he asked "do you want to go downstairs right now and see the product live in the wild?" (huge shoutout to customer and former office landlords Denarius Trading Co), and I've never seen anything like that. Incredibly unique experience to be able to see the product in action and get real-time feedback on software being built for such a physical industry. A couple people have told me that applying the sales methodologies that we've developed over the years to vertical SaaS in an industry that is primed for innovation should be like shooting fish in a barrel, but I guess they actually call them "fish totes" here on the pier not barrels, so... ??♂? Incredible team. Incredible product. Incredible investors (thanks to the awesome team at York IE for making the intro). Incredibly excited for the journey ahead.?

Welcome Andrew Condon Co-Founder, Head of Design & Marketing at BlueTrace on this episode of ?? The Lantern ?? BlueTrace’s mission is to simplify the seafood supply chain. First, that meant helping shellfish farmers print compliant shellfish tags by creating digital receiving and shipping logs to help them comply with state & federal regulations. Now, they’re helping 500+ small and medium sized seafood businesses, producers and distributors, with inventory management (plus sales & purchasing). They just crossed 8M tags printed...that will stretch to South Carolina and back..we think. ?? What’s going on inside BlueTrace this fall? ?? The team is continuing to bring to market their end to end inventory management platform. Creating sales orders, pushing invoices to Quickbooks, and more. A lot of seafood businesses do their software purchasing toward the end of the year when business is quieter so it is BlueTrace's busy season. The team at BlueTrace is also looking to hire a seasoned Sales Leader to build out their GTM strategy. Take note! ?? What has Drew learned from building BlueTrace? ?? Drew’s background has been in product & user experience design. His well worn advice? Know your customer! BlueTrace is co-located with a customer on the Boston Fish Pier, moving fish in and out of the building all day long. If they need something, they go downstairs. If their customer needs something, they go upstairs. That level of “always on” field study is incredible. Feedback cycles move quickly! Empathy grows too. ?? How can we help? ??
