What happens when you take away all the cows? I’m thrilled to share the official trailer for World Without Cows, a groundbreaking documentary that takes viewers on a global journey to explore the role of cattle in our world. Through science and storytelling, our talented filmmakers Michelle Michael and Brandon Whitworth examine the cultural, social, and environmental impact of cattle. I couldn’t be prouder of their impeccable work and the team that brought this important story to life. The impact? This film goes far beyond its runtime. It's starting crucial conversations, grounded in science and broad in nature, exploring all elements of cows’ impact — cultural, social, economic, nutritional, and environmental. Where can you see the film: ?? Film festival debut in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend at the Twelve Lions Film Festival. (September 28) https://lnkd.in/g3QNwwPk ??: Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB) Conference in Punta del Este, Uruguay, on September 30: https://lnkd.in/ghHtiZk5 Don’t wait for this to hit a screen near you — start making an impact now: Request a screening, get updates, and explore our supplemental content here: worldwithoutcows.com

It was an honor to host the Jiujiang (China) delegation at the KY State Fair. Sharing cultures and best practices through the Sister Cities program makes us all better.
The World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana hosted a super quick but productive visit by city leaders from Louisville's Sister City, Jiujiang (China). What an incredible show from our city as we celebrated 20 years of friendship and exchanges. The visit wrapped up with a tour of the 120th KY State Fair, celebrating 120 counties. An incredible opportunity to see some of the best that KY has to offer. Thanks to KY Dept of Agriculture's Jay Hall, Executive Director of Agriculture Marketing and Jonathan Van Balen, Import/Export Advisor, our very gracious hosts at the Fair. We also appreciated that so many of our State and City representatives joined us, esp President of Louisville Metro Council Markus Winkler and Deputy Mayor David James for their heartfelt remarks. Thanks to our incredible partner at Asia Institute Crane House and its tireless Executive Director, Joel Buno and his amazing team for their support and collaboration. Grateful for my team and Board of Directors for their dedication and support, esp Naa Ife Bell who joined us in our meetings and spent part of her birthday with us! My Chinese fluency was challenged but it felt good to use it. The visit reaffirmed the notion that people to people connections far outweigh the hawkish rhetoric of our national leaders, and that such exchanges are still the best platform we have to promote opportunities for all to thrive. "Why not Kentucky?" That simple question, planted by my father many years ago, has grown into a flourishing vision for the future of ag-tech. As a founder of a Kentucky startup, he knew the answer well. In the past, it meant that he found this to be fertile ground for growth, or as he put it, “I liked the way they did business.” Today, it's our responsibility to light the path for startups, just as he lit the road for us. The past few weeks in Kentucky have been a whirlwind of celebration. We kicked off August with the “Lyons Family Holiday” — the birthdays of both my father and sister, Aoife — and our annual #MakeADifferenceDay, marked by the limited release of our award-winning Town Branch Rye Whiskey. Before I headed to Brazil this week, we reached a significant milestone for the Bluegrass AgTech Development Corp: the announcement of our first seven challenge grant winners — the fruit of the seeds my father planted years ago. Agriculture exists to produce our food, but it is our belief that its role is not limited to simply that; it's about preserving our planet. Funding innovative ag-tech entrepreneurs is key to this mission and to transforming Kentucky into the agricultural technology capital of the United States, just as my father, Dr. Pearse Lyons, envisioned. As my father often demonstrated through his actions and words, the 80+ applicants for this program have shown they are ready and eager to "seize the opportunity with speed." These first seven challenge grant winners will help Bluegrass AgTech Development Corp foster an innovation ecosystem in Kentucky, paving the way for technologies that will shape both our traditional agriculture sectors and the emerging industries of the future. By all accounts, all seven of them were absolute standout companies, even compared to those we have seen over the more than seven years we have run our international program, the Pearse Lyons Cultivator. (https://lnkd.in/g2tpeGWM) The winning companies are: - HempWood?: www.hempwood.com - Iristrac: www.iristrac.com - Lepidext Inc.: www.lepidext.com - Parasight Systems Inc.: www.parasightsystem.com - RedLeaf Biologics, Inc.: www.redleafbiologics.com - Spirited Biomaterials: www.spiritedbio.com - Sunflower Fuels: www.sunflowerfuels.com Thank you to our valued partners, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG), Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, for joining us in this mission to make #Kentucky the agricultural technology capital of the United States.
