    A/B testing that boosts email sign-ups AND conversions? Here’s how we did it... Pop-ups get a bad rap, but when optimized correctly, they can fuel your email lists AND drive more first-time buyers. We recently tested a?5% vs. 10% discount pop-up?for a leading fitness equipment brand to see which drove better sign-ups and purchase conversions. ?? The Winning Results? ??10% discount increased sign-ups by 95% on mobile. ??Conversions jumped 78% with 10% vs. 5%. ??The test ended early?due to a?99.9% probability of winning. A deeper discount may seem like an obvious winner, but we wanted to know the full impact of the higher discount during a slow period - profitability is on the line when everything is always on sale. Each version directed users into a?welcome email flow, where we tracked?sign-up rates, purchase conversions, and engagement trends. Key Takeaways: ? Mobile-first matters?– mobile conversions nearly doubled. Mobile-first strategies are?non-negotiable?for brands looking to grow their email list and first-time sales. ? Bigger discounts result in more sign-ups but also attract discount-seekers. Tag contacts with their source, such as "discount pop-up," to identify and track trends among subscribers' segments. ? Smart discounting wins: use higher offers strategically during slow periods. Year-round discounts may not be sustainable. Our recommendation? Deploy higher discounts strategically during slow periods or significant sales events while testing other incentives (e.g., giveaways on pop-ups while a sitewide sale is already running). DTC brands leave thousands on the table?by skipping A/B testing on pop-ups. If you’re not testing, you’re guessing.
