In light of the recent and tragic death of Lt. Mark Meadows of the Irondale Police Department, BlueWatch is reminded how important and dangerous the job of service can be.?For officers, it’s not really a job.?It’s a calling.?Officers literally put their lives on the line every day.?They deserve our thanks.?They deserve our support.?We pray for the colleagues and family of Lt. Meadows today. Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a day to not only remember those who have served our communities but to celebrate those currently watching over us all daily.?We’d like to share are few facts about law enforcement with you: ? The U.S. has over 18,000 independent law enforcement agencies ? There are over 1,280,000 officers currently serving in the U.S. ? Women make up nearly 14% of full-time law enforcement officers ? Nearly 80,000 officers were assaulted in 2023 and nearly 150 were killed in the line of duty How can you help and show support? ?
