Another #BlueStarNation end-user survey allows us to analyze the data on the?#TEConnectPodcast. This week, we're reviewing responses from 125 retail leaders who were asked about their POS preferences, challenges, wish lists, and expectations. Thanks to Elo Touch Solutions for sponsoring the survey! Key Insights: 1?? 83% of respondents said they preferred all their POS equipment to come from one manufacturer. Dean & John think that's either a perception that it would work better together or that they are familiar with buying complete solutions that may be "white labeled" to appear all the same. Dean suggests selling against that mentality to emphasize the best components for the need. ?? Top features when choosing a POS: Longevity, Compatibility, & Service/Support. ?? 66% wanted flexibility in choosing payment processors over time. ?? Biggest challenges with current POS: Integration, Speed/Downtime, Security, & Hardware Compatibility. We felt that speed/downtime shouldn't be an issue at this point, representing a clear opportunity for VARs who hear it. ??♂? What's on the retailer's POS wishlists? Advanced Analytics, Integrated Accessories, Mobile Payments, and Loyalty Programs. "That first one," says Dean, "that's AI. There are solutions out there that you should be in tune with as a reseller." ?? How do retailers prefer to buy their POS hardware, software, and services? 68% said they wanted to be able to pick and choose from various sources, and 23% said they'll buy from whoever has the best price. "This doesn't mean you can't be a single source for their needs," says John, "only that they are particular about what they want. You can provide that if you are tapped into a broader solution ecosphere."
