Blue Sapphire Equities is the student-managed investment portfolio spearheaded by the Gamma Chi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi. The fund is committed to the continuous education of our analysts and associates while actively managing capital. Members are exposed to critical thinking skills, financial best practices, teamwork, presentation skills, and a comprehensive training program. Members of the fund are placed into one of our three industry groups – consumer staples, industrials, and technology – to research securities in their respective group. Analysts perform to maintain adequate returns and healthy risk profiles, as well as opportunities to earn promotions to associate positions or leadership roles.

As the Spring 2024 Semester comes to a close, the Blue Sapphire Equities team is excited to release our Semester Report. The report covers the introduction of our new analyst class, an overview of the fund, recent developments including the formation of our Healthcare Team and Markets Committee, and fund performance. We are proud to share this with our alumni base, faculty advisors, and current and future members, as your unwavering support is greatly appreciated. For next semester, BSE looks to maintain its outperformance of the S&P500, expand its member base, and continue the education and empowerment of our members.

A select few of our largest analyst class in the fund’s history recently presented stock pitches they built throughout their new member education process to alumni. During the new member education process, new members learn how to craft an investment thesis that tells the story of a mispricing in the market, how to conduct company and industry-specific due diligence, and how to quantify their thesis in a financial model. Gabe Bjork, Harper Graves, Emanuella Hedman, and Colin O'Bryan shared pitches on stocks across the consumer and industrials sectors. BSE would like to thank Edward Anaya, Yu Chan (Yuch) Jeong, and Kati Vombergar for their time during the pitches and the feedback new members received during the Q&A sessions. These alumni made another successful conclusion of our new member education program possible and enhanced the learning experience for the fund as a whole.
