Climate science has made clear that we must cut our carbon emissions in half by 2030 to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. We want to help Hawai‘i get there by transforming the systems that underlie the climate crisis. Blue Planet Foundation exists to help Hawai‘i do its part in saving our planet from climate change. Navahine youth plaintiffs reach historic constitutional climate settlement! The state will create a comprehensive roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its transportation sector in order to settle a lawsuit brought by a group of young plaintiffs demanding more action on climate change. In the lawsuit,?Navahine F. v. Hawai?i Department of Transportation, the young plaintiffs (9-18yrs) argued that state transportation policies promoted the continued use of fossil fuels, violating their right to a “clean and healthful environment,” which is protected under the state constitution. Congrats to AES Hawai'i for bringing online Hawai‘i’s largest solar facility – Kūihelani Solar-plus-Storage on Maui. This project will generate enough power for 27,000 homes, and will supply 15% of Maui’s energy needs.
