It was great to be with The Blue Owl Group as a table sponsor at the The Ireland Funds 33rd National Gala in Washington, DC. What a wild week for team ???? on the world stage — soft power on steroids. There will always be divergent views on the politics and posture — which is fair enough — but it was an undeniably relentless week for the Taoiseach. After more than a century of predictability in the relationship, it's a different beast now — and he represented Ireland with assuredness and calm. Ireland has a lot of genuine challenges that need to be met with increased urgency, particularly housing, infrastructure, urban regeneration, and powering a clean future. Regardless, these days a steady hand on the tiller is a pretty rare thing.

I was delighted to represent The Blue Owl Group ????and champion open source AI at the INCOMPAS Policy Summit this past week. It was a thought-provoking panel discussion alongside brilliant colleagues from across the industry. We explored how open source approaches are driving innovation and democratizing access to AI technologies. Some key takeaways we shared: ?? Open source AI can help the U.S. stay one step ahead of geopolitical rivals and authoritarian approaches to the AI ecosystem, fostering openness and healthy market competition. ?? Transparency builds trust. When code and training methodologies are open to scrutiny, we can better address safety concerns and ethical questions ?? Open source collaboration enables thousands of entrepreneurs and researchers to collaborate, identify bugs, improve models, and launch innovative AI apps and services simultaneously. ??Access to government data resources can empower AI startups, drive ongoing innovation and investment, and foster entrepreneurial market entry. It was energizing to gather The Blue Owl Group Senior Advisors from the U.S. and Latin America in Washington, DC for a couple of days this past week! ???? Over two days of rich discussion, we explored the implications of cutting-edge innovation, unpacked emerging geopolitical opportunities, and discussed tech policy frameworks that can simultaneously foster investment while advancing the broader public interest in our communities. The substantive conversations were invaluable, but perhaps the greatest benefit was simply being together in person. While we embrace our decentralized structure by design, there's truly no substitute for face-to-face connection and the wonderful esprit de corps that flows when Blue Owls gather in one place ??
