To help managers learn about effective management of marine protected areas #MPAs, the Reef Resilience Network has partnered with the Blue Nature Alliance to develop a case study from Palau ?? Owned by the Hatohobeian community and located about 300 miles southwest of the main island of Palau, Helen Reef is one of the most remote and biologically diverse reefs on Earth. By the late 1990s, foreign fishing vessels with crews outnumbering the local community had harvested species beyond sustainable levels. Learn about how the Hatohobei people and their partners established the Helen Reef Resource Management Program to ensure the sustainable use and integrity of Helen Reef’s marine resources: https://lnkd.in/gUJjcANi All photos in this post are courtesy of OneReef. Blue Nature Alliance
休耕保育组织
A global partnership that works to catalyze the creation and improved management of large-scale ocean conservation areas
关于我们
The Blue Nature Alliance is a global partnership founded and led by Conservation International, The Pew Charitable Trusts, The Global Environment Facility, Minderoo Foundation, and the Rob Walton Foundation. We believe that the only way to achieve the pace and scale of conservation needed is by joining and aligning with those that share our ambition. The Alliance is staffed by former MPA managers, technical experts, scientists, storytellers, social scientists, economists, explorers, collaborators, and coalition-builders.

?? We’re proud to be Together for the Ocean! With Bloomberg Philanthropies Ocean Initiative, Campaign for Nature, National Geographic Society Pristine Seas, and many others, we are part of a growing coalition of organizations united in the fight for ocean protection. Together, we believe a thriving, abundant ocean and healthy coastal communities are within reach — but only if we take decisive action now. As momentum builds, the gap between ambition and implementation is clearer than ever. That’s why we’re committed to accelerating efforts and turning bold promises into meaningful action. We are excited to launch a Global Marine Protected Area Finance Survey in partnership with the?Conservation Finance Alliance and the IUCN WCPA Sustainable Finance Specialist Group. Developing finance plans is an essential component of MPA success. However, this process can be challenging and costly due to knowledge and capacity constraints. Data collected from this survey will inform an in-depth global analysis of MPA finances and help expand knowledge and access to tools for MPA financial planning.?? https://lnkd.in/eh3-8Q65 #30x30 #MarineConservation #SustainableFinance
