The Beverley?is a US$10,000 grant awarded annually to an established American freelance writer who has an outstanding reputation for art journalism. The purpose of the grant is to foster cultural exchange, discussion and coverage of the Australian contemporary visual arts community and its programs. One week away! American Australian Association and Blue Medium invite you to AAA headquarters on Wednesday, March 12, 6 - 8p. Join us for a conversation between 2024 Beverley Art Writers Grant Recipient Aruna D’Souza as she recounts her recent visit to Australia. While in Australia, D’Souza met with First Nations artists, curators, and writers, learning not only about Indigenous arts but also the collective structures that artists have built to support themselves and their creative communities. She interviewed Archie Moore and members of the team that organized the Australia Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale, explored Australia’s food culture, and was bowled over by its flora and fauna.
