关于我们

Blue Dot Collective is a small but mighty team with a passion for creating and leading initiatives to address humanity’s big questions. We believe in a kinder future – and we partner with leaders and communities determined to make it a reality. From TED to Leaders' Quest, we tap into an exceptional network to collaborate on customized projects and bring the right resources into play. We practice what we call ‘radical collaboration’ because we know we are part of something much bigger than any of us. We value generosity, humility, courage, and an open mind.

Sometimes letting yourself feel part of a community really helps, even as it opens up questions about who is present, who is not, and what that community stands for. I was at TED Countdown: 'Overcoming Dilemmas in the Green Transition' in Brussels this week, listening to a core sample of thoughts and responses to climate emergency from different corners of the world. The sense of recognition and belonging was welcome and actually much needed after too many weeks of rushing through contexts and content. It was an empathetic and reflective opportunity to exchange views and learn with remarkable change agents, as well as an opportunity to make new friends and partnerships. At the same time it made me reflect on the consequences of naming our shared concern in the terms in which we do: the 'climate community', 'climate science' 'climate finance', 'climate solutions', 'climate communications', 'green transition', 'climate justice'... and so on (swap in 'nature' or 'biodiversity'). With every instance, we reinforce the subsidiarity of our efforts in relation to mainstream politics, finance, economics, justice and humanity-as-usual, for which those activities are a subcategory of attention or, worse, an ephemeral distraction. Greg De Temmerman commented on our conversational habit of referring to acting on climate in terms of temperature change - over which we have no control - rather than making clear that it is ourselves and our emissions that we need to act upon, and over which we do have control. My reflection was that we need to rather urgently (re)ground our building of community in a sense of shared agency to reconceive the dominant human designs for life and to mainstream new and old ways of living. Our common identity and responsibility is the pursuit of human transformation: unlearning and re-learning how to be in the world and with one another. It is time to be more deliberate and more explicit in our recognition of that. Some powerful reframing was part of this experience. Among many wise and thought provoking ideas worth spreading, a couple are lingering, continuing to work in my mind: - Joshua Amponsem: observing that young people from the Global South are still coming forward with proposals that entail manual labour rather than proposing themselves as leaders on the global stage of emerging solutions and cultural change. How to change that. - Kris De Meyer: neuroscientist; explaining that the conventional wisdom we have been pursuing is at odds with the human condition. Actions drive beliefs, not the other way around; so there is little point in hanging on to the idea that we should raise awareness and translate that into action. We need to tell stories of doing, and create opportunities for action. ?- Galina Angarova: reflecting on the extent to which mindsets will determine whether we survive - through reciprocity and care. ?? ??? Blue Dot Collective partners with Principles for Peace for the USF Initiative!??? ? We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Principles for Peace to support the Uniting for a Shared Future (USF) initiative. USF aims to transform the status quo and drive towards a political and practical solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on realpolitik. Our recent convening in Geneva in July was a powerful moment of dialogue and collective action. It brought together diverse voices committed to mutual recognition, dignity and equality, security and safety, agency and inclusion, and trust through healing. You can learn more about the initiative here: https://lnkd.in/eD55vFRe A special thanks to our founder, Lindsay Levin, who took part in facilitating meaningful discussions, and to our new Chief of Staff, Julie Rose Dickman, for joining and contributing to the dynamic exchange. Together, we’re making strides toward a more inclusive and peaceful future. Stay tuned for more updates on how we are working to bridge divides and support peace-builders. ?#PeaceBuilding #SharedFuture #Collaboration #BlueDotCollective #PrinciplesForPeace

The year for TED Countdown is shaping up with a full and bold program - beginning with a convening in NYC in June on the Future of Food. Alongside climate, another long-standing passion of mine is how to bridge divides?- and there are a few of those in the climate?community as it turns out :-).?I'm grateful to be back working with a network of incredible peacebuilders in both Palestine and Israel, and will shortly be launching a virtual interview series - "Meet the Peace Entrepreneurs".?Despite relentlessly bad news from the Middle East, there are many courageous people forging pathways forward. I want to shine a spotlight on them as well?as offer ideas for those of us who live elsewhere, on how we can support peacebuilding. More news soon on both Countdown and Peace Entrepreneurs!
