Would you love to work for a boss that’s needy and greedy? Me neither! Low impact leaders and business owners expect their teams to serve them. They ARE needy AND greedy. The people on their teams are seen as objects to help them accomplish their mission…living the good life while those who make it all possible struggle to make ends meet. We’re not sure who to credit for this image and text, but it powerfully illustrates the reality that many experience within their organization. Few bosses would actually make the statement below with their words, but many bosses and business owners model the words for their teams on a daily basis and wonder why they can’t get buy-in, why they can’t attract and retain top talent, and why there seems to be so much resistance within their organization. Many of these low impact leaders LOVE to post the pictures of the life their team is providing for them on their social media pages. They’re so narcissistic that they don’t even understand how it makes their team members feel…but, that doesn’t change how their team feels…used and abused. High impact leaders and business owners are there to serve their teams. They are focused on helping their team members climb to the next level and beyond in life…at home and at work. They see the people on their teams as people with dreams of their own and take responsibility for helping them convert their dreams into their reality. High impact leaders remain humble, so they don’t stumble. It’s not about them! There’s one BIG difference between high impact leaders and low impact leaders: their CHARACTER. People prefer to follow humble, servant leaders who would never rub their wealth and success in their team’s face. People prefer to follow leaders who are capable of achieving success for themselves while having a desire to also help their team members achieve personal success. People prefer to follow leaders who look out for them as much (or more) as they look out for themselves. If you follow a weak, low impact, needy, and greedy leader, don’t blame them for your choice to continue being used and abused by them. Develop yourself which will increase your influence. When YOU increase YOUR influence, you WILL increase your options. One of those options will be to FIRE your boss (quit) and hire a new boss (change your work address…or start your own company). Don’t know where to start? Start right where you are! Preview many of our personal development resources for FREE at BlueCollarLeadership .com/download Want to know what type of leader your boss is?
