The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative—a program of the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University—is a collaboration between Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Business School, and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Its mission is to equip mayors and senior city officials to tackle complex challenges in their cities and improve the quality of life of their residents. The Initiative is committed to advancing research and developing new curriculum and teaching tools to help city leaders solve real-world problems. This approach is designed to help unlock the full potential and optimize the performance of cities. If mayors and their organizations thrive, cities can adapt, endure, and thrive as well.

I'm excited to share 'Connect Green Bay' - Citywide Data Strategy of the City of Green Bay. Over the last five months I've had the opportunity to collaborate with various departments to develop a robust and technically rigorous data strategy. Link: https://lnkd.in/esjS_mjr Our initiative involves architecting data governance frameworks that integrate seamlessly with policy-making processes and service delivery. We're laying the groundwork for advanced data pipelines, enabling interdepartmental data sharing and establishing performance management matrices to track progress on key strategic initiatives. This three-year plan is designed to foster a data-driven culture along with leveraging AI tools to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making. Key aspects include: Data Infrastructure & Governance: Developing a scalable and secure data governance infrastructure that supports real-time analytics and ensures data integrity across departments. Performance Metrics: Designing and implementing performance management matrices to objectively measure progress against strategic priorities. AI Integration: Identifying opportunities for AI tool adoption to optimize processes and streamline operations. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Utilizing a systematic framework for data integration that facilitates cross-departmental data sharing, ensuring that our governance systems are comprehensive and unified. Exciting progress in?City of Port St. Lucie!?Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellow Nikki Zheng has been working alongside city leaders and residents to deliver on community priorities. The launch of this green spaces project shows the power of collaboration. Congratulations on this milestone! Learn about the Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellowship and fellows’ meaningful work:?https://bit.ly/3QaVDBF.?
This past weekend, I participated in my FIRST-EVER Citizen Summit at the City of Port St. Lucie, and it was an incredibly meaningful day of event. As part of my two-year City Hall Fellowship, I'm proud to have reached our first milestone of launching our Initiative - Naturally PSL: Green Spaces and Places - at this year's Citizen Summit. It includes three pilot programs/projects to increase awareness, engagement, and ultimately access to High-performance Public Spaces in Port St. Lucie for our residents. ? What makes this milestone even more meaningful is how we got here - two Citizen Summits ago, residents identified neighborhood parks and preserves as a top priority for the city. That feedback sparked a journey - one that led our team to partner with Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and the Centre for Public Impact to work alongside over 100 residents and across multiple city departments in co-designing solutions. I'm beyond fortunate to build upon the extensive work from our innovation team, and to be trusted with shaping these ideas into tangible projects that show our residents how their voices truly drive changes in this community. ? Besides the excitement of launching this initiative, interacting with residents and receiving their first-hand feedbacks during the Citizen Summit has been a powerful reminder for me to stay focused on what we set out to do with our passion at a time full of changes and uncertainties, and to pour energy into spaces where we can make a real impact on the people around us. Needless to say, I absolutely could not have made it this far without the overwhelming support and extraordinary leadership from Kate Parmelee and my teammates Sabrina McLeod and Salome Angrand, our rockstar Communication Department led by Sarah Prohaska, our dedicating Department of Parks and Recreation Kelly Boatwright, and every idea steward on the innovation team who had generously offer their trust and input throughout the progress - Thomas Salvador, Louis Johnson, MPA, MELP, Bolivar Gomez, Marissa Da Breo-Latchman,Summer Burdick,Jennifer Gamble-Perkey. This work is also made possible through the generous backing of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative. Their guidance and investment in this work made a difference in how we have and will continue to collaborate and innovate in city government. This milestone is truly just a beginning. I'm so excited to keep building on this work and to see where we’ll be at Citizen Summit 2026! Check out our progress to increase access to High-performance Public Spaces in Port St. Lucie: https://lnkd.in/ejT3M4FD Learn more about the work of Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University.
