Welcome to our new AI for Architects series! For the first part of the series, we compared AI-generated results with a final photograph of one of BLOOM's built residential works. Starting with a hand sketched design iteration, we used identical prompts and similar parameters across various platforms to test AI's capability to translate from sketch to realistic rendered work. This exercise tests AI's capability to map textures, read forms, and represent architectural features in a realistic way. Using this exterior view invites the opportunity to test AI's innovation when fabricating the surrounding context with abstract forms for reference aided by text prompts. Comparing the different AI platform results showcases the different capabilities of each in the context of being a tool for early conceptual development. In this Marblehead MA renovation, we created spaces orienting towards three incredible and layered landscapes. Just steps from the rear facade is Redd's Pond, beyond that the 1638 Old Burial Hill, and in the distance the Atlantic Ocean. BLOOM added a new kitchen wing with a water-side deck, created floor-to-ceiling openings in the rear-facing facades to command the view, while removing internal walls to open up the interior floor plan, resulting in bright, interconnected living spaces. Due to the low orignal ceiling heights, we were challenged with how to connect our new lofty spaces seamlessly with the low original areas. The new folded wing-shaped ceiling flares elegantly between the low and high areas of the house, culminating with a ribbon of high windows throughout the kitchen. Glossier finishes were used for paint, cabinetry, and countertops \(including a "leathered python" island slab\), which reflects the natural setting and draws daylight deeper into the space. As a way to integrate the Modern addition with the more traditional Shingle Style house, we designed a contemporary skin that mixed metal panel siding, trimless windows and painted wood shingles. --- #residentialdesign #architecture #renovation #residentialarchitecture #construction #moderndesign

Introducing: Beach House Series Pt.1 - Cape Cod? ? Our team has been hard at work with our new design project focused on renovating all levels of a coastal home in Harwich Port, MA.? ? The selected finishes were inspired by the surrounding landscape and aim to bring the calming coastal atmosphere into the home. Earth tones and textures come together within the home creating a smooth transition from outdoors to indoors as you traverse through the home. This design features unique nature inspired tiles from @tilebar and @besttile that help set the tone for each space. These are further complimented by various textured furnishings by @potterybarn as well as woven pendant lighting from @perigold which acts as a complimenting finishing touch in the home.? ?
