Connecting people and building community through the therapeutic power of upcyyled flowers
关于我们
BloomAgainBklyn is all about reducing social isolation and loneliness among vulnerable populations by creating connections and conversations through repurposed flowers. Our volunteers upcycle unsold and once-used flowers for nursing home residents, homebound older adults, trauma and homelessness survivors, families in shelters, nursing home residents, at-risk children and food pantry recipients. We are truly a circle of “people helping people,” working side-by-side with more than 70 community organizations and growing each day. Our network of over 2,500 volunteers includes individuals and corporate volunteers, school-age children, community, and social service organizations and, most importantly, the people they serve who receive the flowers. The gift of flowers is an emotional and healing experience connecting our volunteers with recipients letting them know that someone cares. We’ve has been bringing joy and hope through the healing power of repurposed flowers to over 60,000 New Yorkers in need since 2014. We have diverted more than 1.4 million flowers from the solid waste stream, creating 120,000+ floral arrangements for recipients. And we are giving people a chance to do the environmentally right thing. There is no other organization in New York City – non-profit or profit -- doing what we do.

BloomAgainBklyn hosted a very special CSR workshop with Citi and 20 Citi volunteers at our location in Cobble Hill Brooklyn. We were joined by a group of older adults from the Ft. Greene Council thanks to the efforts of Citi VP Shimonah Israel. It has been a busy time for Citi and BloomAgain in June as we held a Flowers & Finance workshop with GRIOT Circle LGBTQ+ Older Adults at Sage Stonewall House in honor of PRIDE month. The Flowers & Finance workshops educate older adults on how to protect themselves from financial abuse and scams while teaching them floral arranging skills. Both events felt whimsical as Citi and BloomAgain volunteers bonded with the older adults sharing the beauty and fragrances of magnificent flowers. #CommunityRelations #CID #Citi #GlobalCommunity Day #GCD #FlowersandFinance #sageusa #fortgreenecouncil #bklynorg

In honor of #EarthDay and Financial Literacy Month, I'm excited to share about Citi's #TeachChildrenToSave Campaign to help grades K-8 learn good savings habits at an early stage in life. In conjunction with Partnership with Chidren and BloomAgainBrooklyn, we offered a unique workshop for students at PS 298 in Brooklyn. We reviewed Living Green, Saving Green #ABA content to demonstrate ways to save money and the environment. It was a perfect segue to introduce the flowers from BLOOMAGAINBKLYN that are upcycled to reduce waste. The children also learned about altruism and the importance of giving back through the creation of bouquets to be gifted to people in their family, school faculty, and the broader community. Pictures cannot convey how special we all felt. #Citi #CommunityRelations #AmericanBankersAssociation #LivingGreenSavingGreen #TeachChildrenToSave #ABAFoundation #PartnershipwithChildren #BloomAgainBrooklyn Annie Cleary Kate Selengia

BloomAgainBklyn enjoyed partnering with GIC whose employee volunteers who came together to create beautiful arrangements with repurposed flowers for vulnerable populations. Bravo!
At GIC, we empower our employees to create positive impact in the communities where they work and live. This fall, our colleagues in our America offices volunteered with two organisations making a difference in their local communities – Animal Care & Control in San Francisco, and BLOOMAGAINBKLYN in New York. In San Francisco, our employees spent the day helping out the local shelter Animal Care & Control, making dog treats, filling food bags, and making dog toys for their pet pantry. In New York, employees teamed up with?BloomAgainBklyn?to repurpose and rearrange once used flowers into bouquets that were delivered to organisations supporting New Yorkers in need, helping to reduce social isolation and loneliness among vulnerable populations in the region. ?
