The DRI Workers’ Compensation Committee met this week for a Fly-In Meeting in #Philadelphia to network, discuss new initiatives, and plan for the year ahead. Food insecurity is a significant issue in the US. According to a recent study from the USDA, approximately 18 million households experienced food insecurity at some point in 2023. Of that, about 6.5 million households have children under the age of 18. Programs that provide free or reduced meals at school help, but does not fill the gap over the weekends. Blessings in a Backpack does for the local communities they are able to reach. I hope that this small act of kindness brings us closer to a world where no child goes to bed hungry. ??

Yesterday, the Strategic Services Group (SSG) team had an incredible day giving back to the community by volunteering at Avondale Middle School and supporting Blessings in a Backpack! All of us at Blessings in a Backpack are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our emeritus board member, Junior Bridgeman. Junior was integral to building Blessings in a Backpack’s foundation as an early board member and enthusiastic supporter of our mission. His philanthropic reach and impact will be felt for generations. Our thoughts are with Doris, Eden, Ryan, Justin, and everyone who has ever been touched by Junior’s generosity and kindness.
