We're thrilled to share the inspiring journey of Kemazee Cooper, a 2020 Westside Works graduate and now a systems engineer at Microsoft. Westside Works aims to transform the Westside community and Greater Metro Atlanta through increased access to job training, #education services and good jobs. "Westside Works provided me with all the options and assistance I needed to determine my #career path," Kemazee shares. "Everybody on the team has the community at heart and genuinely wants to help you reach your goals." Since 2014, Westside Works has empowered 1,200 residents, leading to full-time living-wage jobs and over $20 million in wages for themselves and their families. Our latest round of grants focuses on infant and maternal mental health, recognizing that early intervention is key. Research from ZERO TO THREE shows that fostering well-being from the earliest stages of life - during pregnancy for mothers and infancy for babies - creates a strong foundation for long-term mental health. Managing Director of Mental Health & Well-Being Elizabeth Brown shared, "We are inspired by the transformative potential of these programs, which not only improve outcomes for individual families but also create a ripple effect that strengthens communities." Today, we announced new grants totaling over $2 million to advance mental health and well-being for infants and mothers. These grants, awarded to six national and local nonprofits in Georgia and Montana, aim to strengthen critical support networks, promote early intervention and address the unique challenges caregivers and communities face. Our focus on infant and maternal mental health stems from research showing that fostering well-being from the earliest stages of life creates a strong foundation for long-term mental health. We're proud to support organizations ZERO TO THREE, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies - The Montana Coalition, the Maternal Mental Health Equity Fund, the Lullaby Project (Carnegie Hall) and Motherhood Beyond Bars. Each of these organizations plays a crucial role in supporting mothers and infants during critical developmental periods. Through a $1 million grant from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, AMBSE and the Blank Foundation are partnering with the USO to outfit and support USO Centers on all U.S. Naval aircraft carriers to benefit deployed service members at sea. Recently, Falcons President Greg Beadles, FreddieFalcon, ATL Cheerleaders and Falcons Legends visited sailors on the?USS Eisenhower?to show their appreciation and make the announcement.
